You Are

You have spent years in the trenches of Static Timing Analysis, and you know that the difference between a chip that tapes out on schedule and one that doesn't often comes down to a corner case nobody thought to validate three months earlier. You are the engineer who thinks about those corner cases. You have debugged enough PrimeTime runs to know when a timing violation is real and when it's a setup issue, and you can explain the difference to an R&D engineer in two sentences without losing the nuance.

You do not just run regressions. You architect them. You think about what could break under customer conditions that your testbench has never seen, and you build validation strategies that catch those issues before they ship. When an ambiguous bug report comes in from the field, you are the person who can reproduce it, isolate it, and work with R&D to fix it without three rounds of back and forth.

You have learned that AI tools like Cursor and LLMs can accelerate your work, but only if you know what to ask and how to validate what comes back. You use them to write faster, debug smarter, and analyze deeper, but you never ship something you have not personally verified.

At Synopsys, you will own validation for PrimeTime STA features that directly affect whether our customers can sign off their chips. The work is technical, the stakes are real, and the team will rely on your judgment.

What You'll Be Doing

Own end-to-end validation of complex PrimeTime STA features and flows, from requirement analysis through quality sign-off and customer readiness

Define validation strategy, coverage depth, and risk-based testing plans for advanced timing scenarios including OCV, AOCV, POCV, path-based analysis, ECO flows, and hierarchical STA

Lead technical debugging of complex, cross-component issues reported by customers or found in regression, driving root cause analysis and collaborating with R&D to validate fixes

Architect and enhance automation frameworks using Perl, Tcl, and Python to improve regression robustness, testcase coverage, and validation productivity

Mentor L1 and L2 validation engineers on STA concepts, debugging techniques, testcase design, and validation best practices

Leverage AI-assisted engineering tools like Cursor, VS Code with LLMs, and other productivity accelerators to speed up script development, log analysis, and hypothesis generation, while applying technical judgment to validate all AI-generated outputs

Prepare and present executive-ready validation status reports, quality metrics, risk assessments, and sign-off recommendations to cross-functional stakeholders

Reduce customer-reported bugs and escalations through proactive, risk-based validation and deep scenario coverage

Influence product roadmap and design decisions by providing validation-driven insights on feature robustness, scalability, and real-world usability

Elevate team capability and validation rigor by mentoring engineers and driving adoption of modern automation and AI-assisted productivity tools

Strengthen cross-team alignment and trust by serving as a technical bridge between Product Validation, R&D, Product Engineering, and Field teams

Accelerate time to quality sign-off by architecting smarter regression frameworks and leveraging data analysis to identify systemic gaps early

Set the standard for validation discipline, documentation quality, and technical ownership across the PrimeTime validation organization

What You'll Need

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of hands-on validation or verification experience, or Master's degree with 4+ years

Deep understanding of Static Timing Analysis fundamentals including setup/hold analysis, clock domain crossing, multi-mode multi-corner analysis, and timing constraints

Strong hands-on experience with Synopsys PrimeTime or equivalent industry STA tools in real sign-off or validation contexts

Proven ability to debug complex, ambiguous issues across large codebases and multi-component systems, driving them to root cause

Proficiency in Perl, Tcl, and Python for building automation frameworks, testcase generation, and data analysis

Experience with advanced STA flows such as OCV/AOCV/POCV, derates, path-based analysis, ECO flows, what-if analysis, and hierarchical or distributed timing sign-off

Demonstrated experience using AI-assisted development tools responsibly to enhance productivity, with the technical judgment to validate and refine AI-generated code, scripts, or analysis

Who You Are

You can take an ambiguous customer bug report, reproduce the scenario in your validation environment, isolate the root cause, and explain it clearly to R&D without needing three follow-up meetings

You think in terms of risk and coverage, not just pass/fail, and you proactively identify the corner cases and stress conditions that standard regression suites miss

You review testcases and automation scripts with a critical eye, catching logic gaps, scalability issues, and maintainability problems before they become technical debt

You are comfortable presenting validation status, quality metrics, and risk assessments to senior technical leaders and product managers, translating detailed findings into clear recommendations

You mentor engineers not by giving answers but by teaching them how to debug, how to think about coverage, and how to build robust validation strategies

You use AI tools to accelerate your work, but you never trust an output you have not personally validated, and you know when to override a suggestion based on your domain expertise
