In this role as an Air Logistics Gateway Operations Expert, you will play a critical role in optimizing air freight capacity, gateway utilization, and carrier allocation strategies across the network.

As part of the Air Logistics function, you will support the delivery of tailored air freight solutions for customers across diverse industries, ensuring the right balance of service, cost, capacity, and routing. By leveraging Kuehne+Nagel's global gateway network and strategic airline partnerships, you will drive procurement activities, manage carrier relationships, support pricing initiatives, and ensure the availability of capacity to meet customer and business requirements. You will play a key role in identifying the most suitable air freight solutions through national and international gateways while contributing to operational excellence and commercial growth.

How you create impact

Maximize shipment volumes through National and International Gateways to improve consolidation yields, optimize transportation costs, and support network efficiency.

Drive the execution of global and regional air freight strategies, ensuring adherence to preferred carrier and gateway utilization programs.

Coordinate daily with Operational Care Centers, warehouses, Customer Care teams, and gateway locations to ensure smooth and timely movement of consolidations.

Procure and book air cargo capacity with airlines, securing the most suitable solutions through allocated, contracted, or spot market capacity.

Manage relationships with international gateways, with a strong focus on KN Airlift space utilization and dedicated pricing opportunities.

Support Pricing teams on strategic customer opportunities by identifying competitive air freight solutions that meet required service levels and commercial objectives.

Monitor market capacity and carrier performance trends to ensure optimal procurement decisions and continuity of service.

Ensure volume allocations are aligned with corporate targets and actively support the preferred carrier program through effective carrier management.

What we would like you to bring

2-5 years of experience in Air Logistics operations, gateway management, procurement, carrier management, or air freight pricing.

Solid understanding of airline capacity procurement, allocation management, and air freight market dynamics.

Knowledge of air cargo consolidations, gateway operations, and international transportation processes.

Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across multiple countries and functions.

Negotiation skills and experience working directly with airlines, carriers, or transportation providers.

Fluency in English and Italian.
