Role Purpose

The EHS Manager – India Operations is responsible for developing, implementing, and governing Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) frameworks across all India operations. This role ensures statutory compliance, risk mitigation, operational safety, and the creation of a strong safety culture across offices, sites, and vendor operations nationwide.

Key Responsibilities

EHS Governance & Strategy

Own and drive the EHS strategy for India operations in alignment with global/company EHS standards.

Develop, implement, and continuously improve EHS policies, SOPs, and controls across all sites.

Act as the single point of contact for EHS matters for India operations.

Statutory Compliance

Ensure compliance with all applicable Indian EHS laws and regulations, including:

Factories Act (where applicable)

Fire & Life Safety norms

Building & Occupational Safety regulations

State-specific labor and safety requirements

Maintain licenses, permits, statutory registers, and compliance trackers across locations.

Support internal, external, and statutory audits and ensure timely closure of findings.

Operational Safety Management

Conduct periodic safety inspections, risk assessments, and EHS audits across offices, campuses, and operational sites.

Identify hazards and high-risk activities and ensure implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

Lead incident, accident, and near-miss investigations and drive root cause analysis (RCA).

Fire, Life Safety & Emergency Management

Ensure fire safety compliance across all locations including Fire NOC, equipment readiness, and system testing.

Design and implement emergency response plans (ERP) and Disaster Management Plans.

Conduct fire drills, evacuation drills, and emergency simulations across sites.

Lead or participate as a core member of Emergency Response Teams (ERT).

Vendor & Contractor Safety

Define and enforce contractor EHS requirements across India operations.

Ensure Permit‑to‑Work (PTW) compliance for high‑risk activities such as:

Electrical works

Work at height

Hot work

Conduct vendor safety audits and onboarding safety inductions.

Training & Safety Culture

Design and execute EHS training programs for:

Employees

Facility teams

Security, housekeeping, and vendors

Conduct safety inductions, refresher trainings, and monthly toolbox talks.

Drive safety awareness campaigns, signage, and behavior‑based safety initiatives.

Environmental & Sustainability Support

Oversee waste management practices, including segregation and authorized disposal.

Support energy, water conservation, and sustainability initiatives.

Ensure compliance related to environmental aspects applicable to operations.

Reporting & Stakeholder Management

Prepare EHS dashboards and MIS reports for leadership review.

Present compliance status, risks, and improvement plans to senior management.

Coordinate with facility managers, HR, admin, and business leaders across regions.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Environmental Science / Industrial Safety

Diploma or Postgraduate qualification in Safety Management preferred

Certifications (Preferred)

NEBOSH / IOSH / ADIS / ISO 45001 Lead Auditor (any combination)

Experience

7–12 years of progressive EHS experience

Proven experience handling multi‑location or pan‑India operations

Experience in corporate offices, IT/ITES, commercial facilities, or managed workplaces preferred

Key Skills & Competencies

Strong knowledge of Indian EHS legislation and compliance requirements

Hands‑on experience with audits, fire safety, and emergency response

Ability to work with cross‑functional and geographically dispersed teams

Strong documentation, reporting, and presentation skills

Leadership mindset with a practical, solution‑oriented approach

Willingness to travel across India as required
