The ideal candidate brings strong experience in PL/SQL and Oracle database development, AWS cloud services, and Varicent platform integration. .NET experience can be beneficial but is not a mandatory requirement for this role.
You will work closely with architects, product teams, compensation SMEs, and engineering partners to deliver scalable, resilient, and future-ready systems that modernize the compensation platform end-to-end.
Key Responsibilities
Core - Oracle Data Engineering
Design and implement end-to-end data pipelines to support compensation calculations, ingestion, validation, and downstream processing
Build and maintain ETL/ELT workflows using PL/SQL, Oracle SQL, and enterprise data integration patterns
Develop and optimize stored procedures, packages, and database objects for rules-driven compensation processing
Implement data quality, reconciliation, auditing, and monitoring layers to ensure high data integrity for compensation processes
Model, transform, and tune relational data in Oracle for performance, reliability, and scalability
Cloud & Platform Integration
Design and implement event-driven workflows leveraging AWS services and serverless components to orchestrate compensation data flows
Configure and support Varicent workflows including data loading, plan execution, and output distribution
Application & Platform Engineering (Good-to-Have)
Contribute to application components and microservices supporting compensation workflows (.NET - optional)
Assist with API design or UI enhancements as needed to improve access to compensation data and processing
Engineering Excellence
Partner with product, architecture, QA, and DevOps teams in an Agile environment
Apply CI/CD practices for automation and deployment of database scripts and cloud-based data components
Troubleshoot data, database, and workflow issues quickly and effectively
Analyze existing processes and propose improvements to increase transparency, scalability, and automation in compensation processing
Communicate clearly with business stakeholders, compensation SMEs, and technology partners
Technical Skills & Platforms
Primary - PL/SQL & Oracle
PL/SQL development: stored procedures, packages, functions, and complex SQL
Oracle database design, modelling, indexing, and performance optimization
ETL/ELT development and relational data transformation in Oracle environments
Experience with SQL coding/compiling tools like TOAD, SQL Developer or other similar DB utilities.
Experience with Oracle Forms/Reports would be asset and good to have.
Secondary - AWS Cloud & Varicent
AWS: Glue, Lambda, EventBridge, RDS, S3, Step Functions, SQS, and SNS
Varicent: data ingestion, workflow configuration, and compensation calculation support
Hybrid integration patterns connecting Oracle, AWS, and Varicent
Good-to-Have - .NET
.NET, C#, or Web API development for compensation-related application components
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience designing and implementing complex systems
3+ years of hands-on PL/SQL and Oracle development experience, ideally in transformation-heavy or rules-driven domains
Strong understanding of enterprise integration patterns, SOA concepts, and system design principles
DevOps experience with GitHub, CI/CD, build and deploy pipelines
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Snowflake or other modern cloud data warehouses
Experience developing systems related to compensation, payroll, financial calculations, or rules-driven engines
Experience with Jira, TeamCity, or Octopus Deploy
Hands-on experience implementing self-service portals or customer service applications
Experience writing unit tests (NUnit, JUnit, or equivalent)
Knowledge of estimation tools and principles
Exposure to cloud-based application design and implementation
Soft Skills & Competencies
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and cross-team collaboration
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills
Ability to troubleshoot production issues under tight timelines
