IT Support Engineer
About the role
My Cork based client is recruiting for a IT Support Engineer (Level 1) this is a perm role and fully onsite. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an IT Support Engineer to join a well-established organisation in Cork. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys a varied technical support role and takes pride in delivering excellent service to end users.
As the main IT contact on-site, you'll play a key role in supporting employees with their day-to-day technology needs while working alongside a wider IT function on infrastructure, projects and continuous improvement initiatives. This role offers a mix of desktop support, device management, troubleshooting and user engagement.
Responsibilities
Technical Support
Deliver responsive IT support to users across a range of technologies.
Investigate and resolve issues relating to laptops, desktops, printers, mobile devices and business applications.
Provide support for Microsoft 365 products, including Outlook, Teams and SharePoint.
Ensure support requests are managed efficiently, keeping users informed throughout the resolution process.
Deliver a professional and customer-focused support experience to employees at all levels.
Desktop & Device Management
Prepare, configure and deploy end-user devices.
Manage hardware replacements, upgrades and repairs.
Set up equipment and system access for new starters and recover assets during employee departures.
Ensure meeting rooms and collaboration technology remain fully operational.
Infrastructure & Systems
Assist with resolving network-related issues, including wireless connectivity and remote access.
Support system upgrades, technology rollouts and IT improvement projects.
Work with colleagues across the wider IT team to resolve more complex technical issues.
Maintain accurate records of hardware, software and IT assets.
Security & Best Practice
Help maintain a secure IT environment by following established security standards.
Assist with software updates, endpoint management and device compliance.
Identify and report potential security risks or technical vulnerabilities.
Promote good IT practices and support security awareness across the business.
Documentation & Service Improvement
Create and update technical documentation and user guides.
Record recurring issues and contribute to knowledge-sharing within the IT team.
Recommend improvements that enhance service delivery and the overall user experience.
Essential Skills & Experience
Previous experience in an IT Support, Service Desk or Desktop Support position (2-3 years preferred).
Strong working knowledge of Windows 11 and Microsoft 365.
Experience provisioning and supporting user devices.
Familiarity with endpoint management and device administration tools.
Strong fault-finding skills across hardware, software and operating systems.
Understanding of core networking concepts such as TCP/IP, Wi-Fi and VPN connectivity.
Desirable
Experience supporting users within a professional or regulated business environment.
Knowledge of mobile device management (MDM) solutions.
Exposure to endpoint security technologies or cybersecurity best practices.
