Details: Are you an experienced project manager with a strong understanding of commercial land sales and stakeholder engagement? Join the Suburban Land Agency as an Assistant Director, Commercial Transactions and play a key role in delivering complex land release projects across the ACT.

This role sits within the Sales & Client Services and Commercial Transactions team in the Thriving Communities Group. You will contribute to the delivery of a diverse portfolio of land sales, including residential, englobo, multi-unit, mixed-use, commercial, industrial and community sites. Working across government and industry, you will support the successful delivery of land releases from planning through to settlement.

Key responsibilities include:

Coordinating and managing end-to-end commercial land sales projects, from initial planning to settlement

Developing and reviewing sales documentation for complex land release activities

Identifying and managing risks, issues and delivery timeframes across multiple project

Collaborating with internal teams, legal advisors and external sales agents to deliver high-quality outcomes

Supporting the development and implementation of sales strategies and campaigns (auction, tender, EOI and direct sale)

Managing commercial sales contracts, including briefing executives on key decisions and recommendations

Ensuring compliance with ACT Government legislative and governance requirements

Maintaining accurate records, data and reporting across relevant systems and processes

Supervising administrative functions and contributing to operational reporting, briefs and correspondence

We are looking for someone with:

Demonstrated experience in project managing complex transactions or land sales

Strong stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills across government and industry

Ability to interpret planning, legal and policy frameworks in a practical context

Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities

Experience in contract management and working with external service providers

Excellent written communication skills, including preparation of briefings and reports

Eligibility/Other requirements:

Highly Desirable:

Legal qualifications or paralegal experience, particularly in property or commercial law;

Contract management qualifications or experience;

Experience managing high-value, complex commercial land sales; and/or

Planning qualifications or experience.

Will need to possess a Drivers’ licence.

Notes: This is a temporary position available immediately for up to six months with the possibility of extension up to 12 months and/or permanency. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.Selection may be based on application and referee reports only. This position is designed for activity-based working (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk.
