Security Operations Manager

A fantastic opportunity has arisen within Bidvest Noonan for a Security Operations Manager, who will work at our client’s prestigious premises

We require the manager to be SIA licenced – Security Guarding/Door Supervision

Overview

To be responsible for managing a team of security professionals in a high end corporate environment ensuring that all aspects of security are delivered in every task undertaken and that duties are carried out to the highest standard. To ensure that Business Continuity under ISO 22301 is implemented and tested.

To be part of the Bidvest Noonan management team contributing to the company’s efficiency, effectiveness and service delivery to employees and clients.

To be the principle contact for all clients’ and ensure that the customer’s experience is “second to none”. To deal with any complaints or grievances.

To provide first line management support and direction to all site based Security Teams, Bench and Relief Staff. Ensuring all staff are adhering to their Contract of Employment and Company Disciplinary Code and report to Operations Manager any breaches of these. This will include the administration of all rostering, holiday and other leave applications, initial response to site emergencies, and ensuring that the Health, Safety and Welfare of site teams is maintained.

Must be confident and a good communicator as you will be expected to liaise with senior management and clients to discuss the service requirements or any issues.

Patrol and Response Manager – Key Responsibilities

1. Operational Oversight

Manage day-to-day patrol and response operations across assigned sites or regions

Ensure all patrol routes are completed as scheduled and meet client/service level agreements (SLAs)

Monitor real-time activity (e.g., tracking systems, control rooms, incident reports)

2. Incident Management

Oversee response to alarms, emergencies, and incidents (e.g., security breaches, fire alarms, accidents)

Ensure timely and effective deployment of response teams

Review incident reports and ensure accurate documentation and follow-up actions

Liaise with emergency services when required

3. Team Leadership

Supervise patrol officers and response teams

Conduct briefings, debriefings, and performance reviews

Ensure appropriate staffing levels and rota management

Provide coaching, training, and development for team members

4. Compliance & Standards

Ensure all operations comply with company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards (e.g., PSA in Ireland)

Conduct site audits and patrol checks to maintain service quality

Enforce health & safety procedures and safe working practices

5. Client & Stakeholder Management

Act as key point of contact for clients regarding patrol and response services

Attend client meetings and provide performance updates

Address complaints, service issues, and continuous improvement actions

6. Technology & Reporting

Use security systems (e.g., tracking software, incident management systems like Timegate/Dayforce) to monitor performance

Analyse KPIs such as response times, incident trends, and patrol completion

Produce regular reports for management and clients

7. Risk Management

Identify security risks and recommend mitigation measures

Ensure patrol strategies align with current threat levels

Support investigations into incidents, losses, or breaches

8. Resource & Fleet Management

Manage patrol vehicles, equipment, and communication tools

Ensure vehicles are maintained, compliant, and properly allocated

Control costs while maintaining service quality

9. Emergency Planning

Support development and testing of emergency response plans

Coordinate large-scale or critical incident responses

Ensure teams are trained in crisis protocols

Optional Add-On (if senior role)

Budget management and cost control

Strategic planning for patrol deployment

Contract mobilisation and service improvement projects

Administrative Responsibilities

Daily – brief the Contract Manager and team on pertinent security-related issues

Monthly basis – report to the contract manager any onsite issues relating to security service delivery and achievements.

Ensure that all personnel including relief cover employed at the client’s premises undergo the required training and assessment of competency processes, including certification, in line with agreed strategic deliverables.

Annual basis – Carry out staff appraisals of the Supervisors and ensure that staff appraisals of all team members are conducted to the expected standard.

Ensure that the Supervisors are given clear goals and objectives over a twelve-month period. Ensure that all team members are provided with suitable counsel to identify annual goals and objectives.

Prepare and maintain training records for all staff, to include site induction and ongoing training and development needs.

Complete monthly audits of all documentation. One audit per month.

Complete a minimum of one knowledge tests of two officers per month.

Job Role Requirements as a Security Manager

A valid SIA Licence

Previous experience in a similar role is essential

Display a thorough and appropriate knowledge of regulations and working laws that govern the security and safety of staff, visitors, contractors, and colleagues

Demonstrate a working knowledge of Evacuation and Emergency procedures, firefighting equipment, evacuation principles and communication skills via telephone/PA/radio equipment

Good understanding and proven ability in dealing with incident/crisis management

Good written ability and numeracy are required to prepare working rosters, timesheets, and various other reports

Excellent English in both verbal and written communication skills.

Valid front line SIA license.

Excellent knowledge of operational security software applications or the ability to acquire such knowledge through training.

First Aid at Work (if not currently held, qualification must be gained within 3 months of employment).

NVQ 5 in Security Management (if not currently held, qualification must be gained within 3 months of employment)

IOSH Managing Safely (if not currently held, qualification must be gained within 3 months of employment)
