DevOps Engineer

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent.

AWS Trained or AWS Certified.

Experience with CI/CD.

Automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).

Key Responsibilities

Provision and manage infrastructure as code using Terraform and Jenkins.

Possess SME-level knowledge of Kubernetes and Microservices Architecture.

Hands-on experience with API Gateway, CloudFront, and AWS WAF, along with strong knowledge of Layer 7 and routing.

Develop Chef Cookbooks and recipes to automate installation and configuration of middleware infrastructure such as:

Apache

Tomcat

JDK

Oracle

Collaborate with Product Development teams to understand business requirements and recommend suitable software solutions.

Design high-level infrastructure architecture, including:

Servers

Storage (Volumes/Spaces)

Security policies

IAM Roles

Application folder structures

Load Balancers

Database flow

Design and implement backup and recovery strategies, including:

RTO (Recovery Time Objective)

RPO (Recovery Point Objective)

Develop Disaster Recovery (DR) sites with failover architecture to achieve minimal or near-zero data loss.

Analyze expected server load and traffic to determine appropriate AWS instance types (e.g., m3.xlarge, m5.xlarge).

Optimize EBS volumes and continuously monitor AWS infrastructure costs, including services such as:

Monitor budget allocation across teams and raise alerts when cloud spending exceeds allocated budgets.

Perform sanity testing to identify and prevent infrastructure issues.

Enforce least-privilege access by restricting user permissions on servers to improve overall system security and efficiency.

Guide team members in automating new infrastructure and deployment requirements.

Develop and maintain Chef Cookbooks for:

Software installation

Password management using Chef Databags

Environment attributes

Chef Roles

Node integrations

Conduct training sessions on newly implemented software, automation processes, and infrastructure solutions.
