Overview of role:
The Business Intelligence (BI) Developer will play a critical role in the design, development, and delivery of reporting and analytics solutions to support a large-scale Electronic Health Record (EHR) implementation programme. The role focuses on transforming complex clinical, operational, and financial data into actionable insights that support decision-making across clinical, operational, and executive stakeholders. The successful candidate will work closely with technical teams, clinical and operational stakeholders to build robust, scalable, and secure reporting solutions aligned with programme objectives and governance standards. In addition to technical development, this role requires business analysis capability, including engaging with clinical, operational, and executive stakeholders to gather, analyse, and translate reporting requirements into actionable dashboard and data solutions. Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Business Analysis & Requirements Gathering
Engage with clinical, operational, finance, and programme stakeholders to elicit and document reporting requirements
Facilitate workshops and interviews to understand user needs, workflows, and decision-making requirements
Translate business and clinical requirements into clear functional specifications and data definitions
Define KPIs, metrics, and success criteria in collaboration with stakeholders
Validate requirements through walkthroughs and user sign-off processes
Reporting & Dashboard Development
Design and develop customised Meditech EXPANSE reports and configure dashboards in Meditech’s Business & Clinical Analytics (BCA) platform
Design and develop interactive Power BI dashboards and reports supporting EHR workflows and operational performance
Build dashboards to support programme and organisational decision-making
Ensure reports are intuitive, user-friendly, and aligned to stakeholder needs
Data Integration & Modelling
Develop and maintain scalable data models using data from the EHR, integration engines, and other systems
Apply best practice data modelling techniques (star schema, DAX optimisation)
Collaborate with integration and data teams to ensure accurate and timely data availability
EHR Programme Support
Work across multiple EHR workstreams to define and prioritise reporting deliverables
Support System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and go-live validation activities
Contribute to the overall reporting and analytics strategy for the programme
Data Governance & Quality
Ensure adherence to data governance standards, data protection regulations (GDPR), and security protocols
Define and maintain data dictionaries, metadata, and business rules
Implement validation and reconciliation processes
Performance Optimisation & Deployment
Optimise report performance and usability
Manage Power BI workspace deployment, version control, and release cycles
Support transition of reporting solutions into BAU operations
Qualifications & Experience:
Essential
1+ years’ experience developing Power BI solutions in enterprise environments using tools such as Microsoft Power BI or Microsoft Fabric
Proven experience performing business analysis / requirements gathering in a data or reporting context
Strong expertise in Power BI (DAX, Power Query, data modelling)
Experience translating business requirements into technical solutions
Proficient in building and optimizing complex SQL, TSQL queries and data transformations using Azure Data Factory
Bachelor’s degree in one of the following or a related discipline:
Computer Science
Data Analytics / Data Science
Information Systems / Information Technology
Software Engineering
Mathematics / Statistics
Desirable
Experience in healthcare or EHR implementations (Meditech Expanse highly desirable)
Familiarity with healthcare workflows and reporting requirements
Postgraduate qualification (e.g. MSc) in Data Analytics, Health Informatics, or related field
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, MS Project)
Formal training or certification e.g.
Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300)
Microsoft Azure Data certifications (e.g. DP-203)
Business Analysis certifications (e.g. CBAP, CCBA, BCS BA)
