Your Role

There is no typical working week at Flybuys. But here are some of the things you will be working on, day-to-day;

Application Development: and optimize our data and data pipeline architecture, as well as the data flow and collection for cross functional teams.

Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines and building out new API integrations to support continuing increases in data volume and complexity.

Collaborate with wider engineering and analytics teams to improve data models that feed business intelligence tools, increasing data accessibility and fostering data-driven decisions across the organization.

Implement processes and systems to monitor data quality & security, and available for key stakeholders and business processes that depend on it.

Write unit/integration tests, contributing to engineering wiki, and documentation.

Build data pipelines and infrastructure required for extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using Snowflake on an AWS stack.

Design, construct, install, test and maintain data management systems, data integrations and data quality framework.

Develop set processes for data mining, data modeling, and data production.

Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements.

Keep partner data separated and secure within flybuys domain across multiple Snowflake database and shares.

Collaborate with members of the architecture, engineering and delivery teams (eg, Delivery Manager, Enterprise Architect and software engineers) on the project goals.

Continuous Improvement:

Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability etc.

Work with data and analytics experts to strive for greater functionality in our data systems.

Recommend different ways to constantly improve data reliability and quality.

Working closely with colleagues to constantly innovate data pipeline and design.

Troubleshoot and debug to optimize performance.

Ensure new and legacy applications meet quality standards.

Write a clean and sustainable code that can be used in the future.

Technology Strategy:

Work closely with all business units and engineering teams to develop strategy for long term data platform architecture.

Ensure that all data meets the business/company requirements as well as industry practices.

Integrate up-and-coming data management and software engineering technologies into existing data structures.

Research new uses for existing data.

Research and suggest new data ingestion and integration technologies.

Recommending changes and enhancements to data management systems.

Training:

Keep up to date with new terminology, concepts and best practices in data management technologies.

Training & creating documentation for development best practices.

Your Experience

Tertiary qualification in Information Technology and/or Computer Science or equivalent industry experience.

3+ years of experience in ETL/ELT, with Data Modeling, Business Intelligence and/or Data Warehousing knowledge a plus

Relevant experience in data management technologies such as Snowflake, Oracle and Postgres is an advantage.

Working knowledge of cloud platform services preferably in Amazon Web Services (AWS)

Hands on experience working with SQL, Java, R, Python, Bash or other Scripting languages.

Experience with visualization tools such as PowerBI is an added advantage.

Demonstrated experience working in an Agile based, fast paced, complex environment within cross functional teams.

Experience working with analytics and data science team to support the execution of machine learning, AI and advanced analytics a plus.
