The Mission: Best Care, Powered by Data. At Western Health, we don’t just provide care; we are engineering the healthcare of the future. Serving one of Melbourne’s most diverse and explosive growth corridors, our mission is simple: Best Care, in the right place, at the right time.

The Role: From Raw Code to Real-World Impact. If you're ready to weaponise your AI and automation skills for the public good, this is your arena. As Lead Automation Engineer within our elite Performance Unit, you will be the critical bridge between executive-level strategy and modern automated process development.

Your Impact Portfolio:

Insight Architecture: Transform "messy" patient activity data into high-fidelity actionable insights for Clinical Directors and Executives.

Strategic Visualisation: Evolve our MaP (Monitoring and Performance) platform using advanced AI and sophisticated data modelling.

Predictive Foresight: Identify performance trends and build models that alert the health service to challenges before they arrive.

The Technical Edge: You live in AI and Automation. You navigate complex data environments with the precision of a surgeon.

Meticulous Standards: You understand that in healthcare, data accuracy isn't just a goal - it’s a safety requirement.

The Western Health Advantage:

True Balance: 5 weeks of annual leave + 1 Accrued Day Off (ADO) every month.

Hybrid Freedom: Work from home part-of-the-week with a stunning office base at the historic Williamstown Hospital.

Essential Selection Criteria:

Relevant tertiary qualification in Data Science, Software Engineering, AI, or related field.

Strong technical expertise in automation technologies, such as UiPath, Microsoft Power Automate, Automation Anywhere, or similar platforms, combined with proficiency in programming languages including Python, C#, .NET, or JavaScript. Proficiency in Python and/or R; experience with SQL and relational databases.

Experience integrating complex systems and applications through APIs, web services, and modern integration frameworks.

Knowledge of ML, statistical modelling, data visualization, LLMs, generative AI, and prompt engineering.

Ability to analyse business processes and identify automation opportunities that improve operational efficiency, service quality, compliance, and user experience.

Demonstrated experience working with stakeholders across multiple business functions, translating business requirements into scalable and sustainable technical solutions.
