Salary: Up to £68,500 depending on experience

Job Description:

You will play a key role in supporting the Project Engineering Manager in the delivery of budgeted tasks, bids, installations and support to first line delivery teams through the efficient employment and tasking of systems, hardware and software engineers.

You will gain exposure to the full lifecycle of software development, providing exposure to a range of internal stakeholders, through leading on the development of software training systems.

Core duties:

You will task and monitor the engineering team in accordance with BAE Systems’ processes to deliver the contracted deliverables against the agreed schedule as directed by the Project Engineering Manager

You will prepare/review engineering estimates and schedules for review by the Project Engineering Manager and/or other parties

You will forecast the required resource for each task and update the resource management toolset as directed by the Project Engineering Manager

You will provide support to the Project Engineering Manager for the appropriate identification of engineering risks and subsequent analysis

You will support continuous improvement in engineering capability in terms of people, processes, tools and technology

Essential Skills:

You will have sound knowledge and experience of software and/or systems engineering principles is essential

You will have proven knowledge of engineering governance and lifecycle management processes within a project or complex environment

You will have some knowledge of hardware and electrical engineering principles/issues

You will some knowledge and understanding of the Naval training domain would be advantageous

You will be able to motivate the engineering team (especially software engineers) to deliver to budget, to timescale and to the required level of quality and completeness

The Simulation & Training Team:

MEMISIS provides a battlespace simulation of the maritime world; from terrain and seabed, to weather and underwater acoustics, accurately modelling the movement and behaviour of ships, submarines and other platforms, and digitally replicating their unique capabilities (sonars, radars, weapons). Our product supports naval training, enables customers to experiment with novel concepts or capabilities, and allows design teams to conduct test and integration of new platform systems and capability upgrades, reducing operational risk.
