About the role
Role : DevX Software Engineer
Location : Charlotte, NC (Hybrid)
Role Summary
Hands-on engineer dedicated to elevating Developer Experience (DevX) across the new initiative platform
Designs and builds the integrations, tooling, and assets that make Unity adoption frictionless for engineering teams
Bridges platform capabilities with the enterprise Internal Developer Platform (IDP), enabling self-service, golden paths, and rapid onboarding
Key Responsibilities
Developer Experience Engineering
Design and build Unity integrations into the enterprise IDP (templates, scaffolding, service catalogs, golden paths)
Develop CLIs, SDKs, plugins, and automation to streamline developer workflows
Continuously measure and improve developer productivity metrics (time-to-first-commit, time-to-deploy, NPS)
Documentation & Enablement
Author high-quality technical documentation, tutorials, runbooks, and architecture references
Build and maintain sample repositories, reference implementations, and starter kits
Create onboarding journeys, quickstarts, and interactive learning paths
Adoption & Community
Run regular office hours, AMAs, and hands-on workshops for adopting teams
Partner with early-adopter squads to validate workflows and capture friction points
Build feedback loops between platform consumers and the Unity engineering team
Platform Integration & Engineering Excellence
Implement CI/CD templates, paved-road pipelines, and automated quality gates
Ensure all DevX components meet enterprise architecture, security, and observability standards
Contribute to platform APIs, event integrations, and self-service capabilities
Required Qualifications
8+ years building developer-facing tools, platforms, or libraries
Expert-level Python (production code, packaging, testing, performance)
Demonstrated experience integrating with or building on Internal Developer Platforms
Strong understanding of CI/CD, Git, containerization, and cloud-native architectures
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications
Full-stack capabilities (TypeScript/React for portal and tooling UIs)
Prior work in regulated enterprise environments (financial services)
Open-source contributions to developer tooling ecosystems
Technical Skills
Languages: Python (expert), TypeScript/JavaScript, Go (nice to have)
Frontend: React, Next.js, modern component libraries
CI/CD & DevOps: GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Terraform, Helm
Containers/Cloud: Docker, Kubernetes, Azure/GCP
Soft Skills & Leadership Expectations
Deep empathy for developer pain points; product-minded approach to internal tooling
Excellent technical writing and communication skills
Comfortable presenting to engineering audiences and running interactive sessions
Self-directed, with strong ownership and bias for action
