About the role:

The Associate Finance Business Partner is an emerging finance business partnering role that works collaboratively with Business Partners and service leaders to translate financial insights into practical actions, through strong data stewardship, stakeholder service, and continuous improvement. The position combines financial analysis, performance reporting and stakeholder engagement to provide timely insights that help drive operational and financial performance.

Reporting to the Manager, Health Service Business Partner, the role works closely with Finance Business Partners, health service executives and program area stakeholders to support the public hospitals and health services across Victoria. The role will require close working relationships with senior stakeholders across the department and Victorian health sector.

About you:

Can you demonstrate the following?

Monitoring of financial performance against budget, escalating variances and emerging risks to Manager, Health Service Financial Performance

Prepares reports, briefs and correspondence on complex issues that impact at program or organisational level

Prepares and distributes routine financial reports and updates to internal stakeholders in a timely and accurate manner

Contributes to the development of financial operational policies under guidance of Manager, Health Service Financial Performance

Negotiates and manages straight forward, corporate contracts and service agreements

Supports delivery of regular financial updates to Chief Finance Officers and Finance leaders at health services, as directed

Qualifications / Specialist Expertise

A Bachelor Degree or higher in Accounting / Commerce would be desirable

Membership (or working towards) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia (ICAA) and/or Certified Practising Accountants of Australia (CPA).

A high degree of understanding and knowledge of the Victorian budget processes, health system funding, relevant departmental systems and environments.

Exceptional advisory, negotiation, communication and relationship building skills, with demonstrated capacity to work effectively within a politically sensitive context.

Knowledge of the Victorian public hospital operations, and the impact of government funding, policy and reform on operations.
