Lead Business Development in a pharmaceutical CDMO that focuses on selling, formulation, product development, clinical supply, commercial manufacturing, packaging, and analytical services to biopharma companies, private and public institutions. Generate leads, manage the end-to-end sales lifecycle, negotiate contracts, and align client requirements with the CDMO’s internal manufacturing and CMC capabilities. This professional will develop/improve the customer acquisition playbook, business processes, policies and procedures to streamline the customer journey, support marketing strategy, and drive sales to attain business growth plans.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

Lead generation & prospecting by proactively identifying prospective clients, cold calling, and networking at industry trade shows to build a robust pipeline.

Manage Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and collaborate with internal estimation and technical teams to craft tailored, cost-effective project solutions.

Lead contract negotiation and commercial discussions. Finalize complex agreements such as Confidentiality Disclosure Agreements (CDAs), Master Services Agreements (MSAs), and Statements of Work (SOWs)

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the bridge between the client and internal operations - such as Commercial Quality Assurance, Supply Chain, and Project Management - to ensure smooth tech transfers and project onboarding.

Market Intelligence: Monitor biopharma trends, drug pipeline developments, and competitor landscapes to strategically position the CDMO’s services.

Maintain expertise in relevant markets, competitors, and technologies, as well as DPT’s strategies, programs and requirements.

Develop and present DPT’s capabilities, obtaining new and existing client meetings, own the client relationship, deliverables, the management of timelines to support client requests/requirements and the bid process through the award decision.

Represent DPT at trade shows and conferences, and is responsible for industry/client initiatives with the intent on securing repeat and new business opportunities.

Position functions autonomously.

Here are the minimum qualifications for this position:

Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Pharmacy, or Business; an advanced degree or MBA is highly preferred.

10+ years of sales or business development experience explicitly within the pharmaceutical, biotech, or contract services (CMO/CDMO) sectors. Sales experience in the pharmaceutical industry is a must. Minimum 6 years of Business-to-business sales in the pharmaceutical industry is required.

A strong understanding of drug development lifecycles (preclinical through commercialization), CMC (Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls), and technical operations (e.g., aseptic fill-finish, API synthesis, or biologics). [1, 2]

Extensive relationships in the pharmaceutical, biotech and biopharma industry

Superb oral & written communications and interpersonal skills

Demonstrated ability to quickly build relationships internally and externally and establish credibility and respect.

Strong business acumen, including financial exposure and skills.

Highly independent, self-starter with an entrepreneurial attitude, able to penetrate new territory and companies with minimal direction and management.

Highly focused, goal-oriented, able to prioritize well.

Proficient in PowerPoint, Excel, and Word

Proficiency in speaking, comprehending, reading and writing English is required.

Exact compensation may vary based on items such as skills, experience and location. The salary range for this position is: $151,000 - $314,000.
