We have an opportunity for a Senior Civil Engineer to Play a key role in providing essential engineering and technical support to our Development & Future Networks (D&FN) teams across business development, deal execution, preliminary works, project delivery, and operations and maintenance.

Work on dynamic projects, tackle complex technical challenges, and support the development and construction of infrastructure in a high-growth, evolving sector.

Your Civil/Structural expertise will deliver innovative solutions and help position AusNet as the energy partner of choice for renewable energy pioneers and market leaders, all while making a meaningful impact in the renewable energy transition.

What you’ll be doing in this role:

Provide technical, commercial and design support to stakeholders, supporting AusNet’s growth in the energy transition

Review civil and structural designs across all stages

Support project delivery activities including estimating, design reviews, tender evaluation, site visits and stakeholder engagement

Contribute to maintaining engineering standards to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory and safety requirements

Lead, coach and mentor team members, sharing knowledge and experience

Review tender submissions, pricing and methodologies, providing clarity to Procurement and Design Leads

Participate in contractor meetings and respond to subcontractor tender RFIs

Support the Development team with design advice, planning inputs and project alternatives

Review drawings (IFR/IFT/IFC) to ensure practical, cost-effective and safe solutions aligned to standards, permits and client requirements

Ensure Basis of Design scopes, specifications and drawing standards are accurate and complete

Attend internal and external project delivery meetings

Support project delivery through QA documentation, reviews and construction support

Conduct site visits and review project RFIs for alignment with specifications

Manage handover and sign-off of constructed assets to third parties or clients

Support the engineering team across all civil/structural aspects

You don’t need to check every box, however we’re looking for a good combination of:

A tertiary qualification in civil or structural engineering

A registered Professional Engineer in Victoria – NER required

CPEng or ability to obtain Chartership would be considered advantageous.

A combination of a Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Civil/Structural Design and onsite construction experience for a Tier 1, 2 or 3 company with exposure in Bulk Earthworks, Roads, Utilities, Foundation, Structural Steel and Reinforced Concrete.

Review of Hydrology and Geotechnical reports.

High level of understanding of Civil and Structural design to Australian, Industry, Victorian Standards and guidelines including VicRoads and Austroads with exposure to Geotechnical engineering and the National Construction Code(NCC) being highly regarded.

Experienced at preparing and analysing tenders, estimates and price variations.

Ability to review and develop new processes and streamline transactional activities.

Ability to contribute to the preparation of project budgets.

Strong communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams and explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal teams, external customers, government, and the public.

High level of organizational skills, capable of managing multiple tasks, setting priorities, and meeting deadlines under pressure.

Experience with Civil Design software and preparing civil and structural designs

Experience with procurement of materials and professional services and quality assurance.
