Industrial Purchasing Manager – Automotive Industry
Location: On-site (Plant-based at least 4 days a week)
Experience: 5+ years in a similar role within the automotive manufacturing environment
We are seeking an experienced Plant Purchasing Manager to act as a key interface between the plant and central purchasing. This is a strategic and operational position embedded within the plant, requiring a strong presence on-site and the ability to operate effectively in a high-pressure industrial environment.
The successful candidate will bring a solid background in automotive purchasing, demonstrated experience in plant operations, and a strong character capable of influencing stakeholders and driving performance. This role is designed for someone with clear leadership potential, able to grow into broader management responsibilities.
Plant representation and Governance
Act as the primary Purchasing representative within the plant and ensure alignment with central purchasing
Serve as an active member of the Plant Leadership Board, contributing to strategic and operational decisions
Anticipate and escalate key purchasing topics to central teams, ensuring timely and effective resolution
Contribute to multi-plant coordination and supplier contract optimization
Purchasing performance and cost control
Drive purchasing performance to support the competitiveness of the plant’s production (vehicle or engine programs)
Lead and implement cost reduction action plans, with a strong focus on commercial savings
Identify and deliver savings opportunities through structured initiatives (workshops, supplier negotiations, audits)
Support commodity strategies with plant-specific insights
Contribute to ISO certification processes related to indirect purchasing
Supplier management and continuous improvement
Ensure effective handling of supplier-related issues (quality, logistics, service) in coordination with central purchasing
Manage supplier claims recovery (logistics, indirect procurement, quality)
Develop strong relationships with local and just-in-time suppliers, ensuring performance and reliability
Drive continuous improvement initiatives with key suppliers
Strategic Sourcing Contribution
Participate in defining and executing plant-level sourcing strategies, including make-or-buy decisions and supplier ecosystem development
Support new program launches in coordination with Program Purchasing Managers
Candidate Profile
5+ years of experience in purchasing within the automotive industry, ideally in a plant-based or similar high-pressure environment
Proven ability to operate in transversal roles, influencing multiple stakeholders
Strong understanding of supplier relationship management and industrial constraints
Demonstrated resilience, autonomy, and decision-making capability
Clear leadership potential and ambition to grow into a management role
Master’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field
Fluent in English (C1 level) and local language required
Proficiency in SAP and standard office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
