Job Summary
The Fitter / Plumber is responsible for installing, repairing, maintaining, and testing plumbing systems, pipelines, pumps, valves, and related equipment at project sites. The role ensures all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesInstallation Works
Install GI, MS, CPVC, UPVC, HDPE, PPR, PVC, and SS pipelines.
Install water supply, drainage, sewage, rainwater, and fire-fighting pipelines.
Install valves, pumps, tanks, fixtures, fittings, and plumbing accessories.
Assemble and fit pipe supports, brackets, hangers, and clamps.
Perform pipe cutting, threading, grooving, bending, and jointing.
Read and execute plumbing drawings, layouts, and isometric drawings.
Maintenance & Repair
Repair leaking pipelines, valves, joints, pumps, and plumbing fixtures.
Carry out preventive and breakdown maintenance.
Replace damaged pipes and fittings.
Attend emergency plumbing complaints promptly.
Ensure uninterrupted water supply systems.
Testing & Commissioning
Perform hydro testing and pressure testing.
Check for leakages and rectify defects.
Assist in commissioning plumbing systems.
Verify proper flow, pressure, and drainage performance.
Quality Control
Ensure installation follows approved drawings.
Maintain proper alignment and slope of pipelines.
Ensure neat workmanship.
Report material shortages and quality issues.
Rectify punch list items before project handover.
Material Handling
Verify received plumbing materials.
Maintain material consumption records.
Minimize wastage of pipes and fittings.
Store tools and materials properly.
Safety Responsibilities
Follow all company safety procedures.
Wear mandatory PPE (Helmet, Safety Shoes, Gloves, Goggles).
Maintain a clean and safe work area.
Report unsafe conditions immediately.
Follow permit-to-work requirements where applicable.
Housekeeping
Keep work area clean before and after work.
Dispose of waste materials properly.
Return tools to the designated storage area.
Documentation
Maintain daily work progress.
Report completed work to the Site Engineer.
Record maintenance activities.
Assist in site inspections and audits.
Skills Required
Pipe fitting and plumbing installation.
Pipe cutting, threading, welding coordination, and jointing.
Pump installation and maintenance.
Valve installation and servicing.
Ability to read engineering drawings.
Knowledge of plumbing standards.
Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

ITI – Plumber / Fitter
Diploma (Preferred)
Experience
Fresher to 2 Years – Junior Fitter/Plumber
3–5 Years – Fitter/Plumber
