About the role
POSITION SUMMARY
Our client seeks to appoint an accomplished Senior LPG Trader to be based in Singapore. This is a senior commercial leadership role within their global LPG trading platform and represents a high-impact opportunity for an experienced trader to drive profitable growth across Asia-Pacific markets while working in close partnership with their international trading teams.
The successful candidate will bring deep expertise across physical and paper LPG markets, arbitrage strategies, and integrated trading models involving refining and downstream supply. The role is ideally suited to an individual who has previously built, scaled, or led a trading desk and who thrives in fast-moving, high-value international markets.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Trading & Commercial Performance
Develop and execute profitable LPG trading strategies across Asia-Pacific markets.
Identify and capitalize on regional and international arbitrage opportunities
Build and actively manage a commercial portfolio across physical and derivative LPG markets.
Optimize value chains through integration with refining, storage, logistics, and downstream channels.
Work closely with LPG trading teams in Europe and North America to maximize global portfolio value and coordinate across-regional strategies.
Deliver sustainable profitability while effectively managing market volatility and margin exposure.
Global Collaboration
Maintain daily engagement with LPG trading teams across Asia, Europe, and North America.
Coordinate global positions, market views, and arbitrage opportunities across multiple time zones.
Share regional market intelligence, pricing insights, freight developments, and supply-demand dynamics with overseas teams.
Support the execution of cross-border transactions and integrated global strategies. Contribute to a unified global trading approach through strong communication and alignment across regional desks.
Work closely with operators in Singapore for smooth operational flow.
Collaborate with Analysts based in Singapore and Europe to identify commercial opportunities
Market Intelligence & Analysis
Monitor global LPG fundamentals, freight dynamics, pricing structures, and regional demand trends.
Assess macroeconomic, geopolitical, and regulatory developments impacting LPG markets.
Generate actionable insights to support trading decisions and strategic positioning.
Maintain strong visibility on competitor activity and market dislocations.
Risk Management
Manage trading exposure within approved mandates, controls, and risk frameworks.
Partner closely with Risk, and Compliance teams to ensure robust governance.
Monitor positions, VaR, P&L, and stress scenarios to preserve capital and optimize returns.
Maintain disciplined hedging and portfolio optimization strategies.
Relationship Management
Build and strengthen relationships with producers, refiners, counterparties, brokers, shipping partners, and customers.
Negotiate term and spot contracts to secure commercially advantageous outcomes.
Represent the business at industry forums, conferences, and client meetings.
Develop new business opportunities and strategic partnerships.
REQUIREDEXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum10 years of LPG trading experience with a demonstrable record of commercial success.
Strong expertise in LPG arbitrage, including but not limited to Middle East to Asia trade flows.
Deep understanding of refining economics, downstream supply, and integrated trading models.
Proven experience establishing, building, or leading a trading desk.
Experience operating in a global trading environment with close collaboration across multiple regional teams.
Strong commercial judgement and ability to perform under pressure.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Established network within the global LPG and energy trading community.
Strong analytical capability with high attention to detail.
Leadership experience with the ability to mentor and develop talent.
Proficiency with trading systems, market intelligence tools, and risk platforms.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Economics, or related discipline.
Advanced qualifications or industry certifications would be advantageous.
