Job Description

As a High Voltage Lead Engineer, you will provide technical leadership and operational oversight of all High Voltage (HV) electrical infrastructure across our data centre campus. You will ensure the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of mission-critical power systems that underpin hyperscale digital infrastructure.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role where safety, precision, and uptime are paramount.

What you’ll do

Take technical ownership of all HV electrical infrastructure, including switchgear, transformers, protection systems, and distribution networks

Plan, coordinate, and execute high voltage switching operations in accordance with approved procedures and safety standards

Issue and manage HV permits and access authorities, ensuring strict compliance with electrical safety requirements

Maintain and enforce HV operational procedures, including switching, isolation, emergency response, and safety protocols

Coordinate planned outages and isolations for maintenance, upgrades, and fault resolution

Act as the key interface with electricity utility providers for supply, outages, and infrastructure coordination

Oversee preventative and corrective maintenance programs for HV systems

Lead fault investigations, root cause analysis, and development of corrective and preventive actions

Review and approve Method of Procedure (MOP), Emergency Operating Procedures (EOP), and Safe Work Instructions (SWI)

Maintain accurate operational records including switching logs, outage documentation, and compliance records

Support commissioning and energisation of new HV infrastructure and expansion projects

Provide escalation support and after-hours technical response for HV incidents

Mentor and provide technical guidance to engineers and technicians working around HV systems

Ensure full compliance with electrical safety regulations, industry standards, and internal frameworks

Contribute to continuous improvement of reliability, safety, and operational performance

What you’ll bring

Strong expertise in high voltage electrical systems in mission-critical environments

Proven experience performing HV switching operations and managing electrical isolations

Deep knowledge of HV switchgear, transformers, protection systems, and power distribution networks

Strong understanding of electrical safety regulations, permit systems, and safe work practices

Ability to interpret electrical schematics, single line diagrams, and protection studies

Strong analytical skills with the ability to diagnose complex electrical faults

Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly

Strong organisational skills and attention to detail in documentation and procedures

Ability to operate effectively in a high-availability, safety-critical environment

Experience with BMS, SCADA, and power monitoring systems

Strong stakeholder management across internal teams, contractors, and utilities

Qualifications

Degree in Electrical Engineering or recognised electrical trade qualification with significant HV experience

5–10+ years’ experience in HV systems within data centres, utilities, power generation, or heavy industry

Demonstrated experience in HV switching operations and outage coordination

Strong understanding of power systems including generators, transformers, UPS, and protection systems

HV Switching Authorisation and relevant electrical safety certifications

Experience managing HV maintenance programs and system reliability

Experience working with utility providers is highly desirable

NV1 Security Clearance (or ability to obtain) desirable
