Position Title

Science Outreach Coordinator

Position Summary

The School of Trades and Technology is seeking a term-certain Science Outreach Coordinator for the period of July 2, 2026 to June 30, 2027. The Science Outreach Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations and delivery of Science Workshops. This includes creating workshop calendar of events, coordinating workshop offerings with school teachers and RDP faculty and staff, planning workshop content, ensuring required equipment and supplies are available, delivering workshops, completing required reports, and applying for grant funding and managing the budget.

Position Responsibilities

The successful candidate will fulfill the following responsibilities:

Researches, develops and tests science workshop content and activities; Researches Alberta Education curriculum for each grade and matches proposed science activities with group requests and ABEd learning outcomes

Facilitates workshops with external groups and/or secures faculty, staff and student volunteers to facilitate workshops

Provides observational performance feedback to hiring manager for hiring science workshop instructors

Assigns and monitors day-to-day tasks to instructors

Creates the annual schedule

Prepares invoice requests

Acquires all materials needed

Ensures lab and demonstration materials are prepared and organized based on workshop needs

Distributes and collects evaluations

Writes grant applications, completes and submits grant reports

Promotes workshops and seeks out new workshop opportunities

Ensures the information on the RDP website is accurate and up to date

Ensures branding compliance with all funding partners on the RDP Science Promotion webpage and on all promotional material

Liaises with schools and other external groups to increase interest and participation in Science workshops

Leads the development and provision of services and supports, leading to exceptional cultural support and STEM learning experiences for Indigenous students

Prepares grant applications and grant reports to funding partners such as Actua and APEGGA in coordination with Extended Education (who host Science camps)

Researches and develops funding proposals and grant applications for internal and external resources in support of the implementation of strategic initiatives

Develops, manages and reconciles all income from grant sources, proposals and self-generated fees with costs associated with workshops, including salaries, benefits, supplies and travel

Maintains purchasing card

Assists Science Lab Manager for yearly budget plan for finance

Compiles statistical data and prepares reports

Required Qualifications

Four (4) year undergraduate degree, or three (3) year undergraduate degree plus one full additional year of university in a related program, representing four years of study or equivalent. BSc or combined BSc/B.Ed.

Valid Driving license

First Aid Certificate

Starting at $33.32 per hour

Benefits and Compensation Information

An additional 15% of the hourly rate in lieu of vacation, statutory holidays and benefits
