Area Bar Manager

We’re looking for an experienced, hands-on Bar Manager to help run busy, music-led venues across the UK (Somerset/Bristol area). and help with 1 venue in the French Alps .This is a unique role for someone who loves hospitality, thrives in live environments, and is happy to work between two countries - keeping standards consistent, teams supported, and service running smoothly.Key Responsibilities

Lead day-to-day bar operations: service standards, cleanliness, opening/closing, cashing up

Manage and motivate staff: rota planning, training, shift leadership, performance feedback

Stock control: ordering, stocktakes, wastage control, supplier relationships

Maintain compliance: licensing, food safety where relevant, health & safety, incident logs

Support events and busy services: live music nights, private hires, peak season trading

Maintain brand consistency across both locations (service style, menu standards, customer experience)

Troubleshoot operational issues quickly and calmly

Work closely with the owner to improve systems, margins, and team confidence

What We’re Looking For

Proven experience as a Bar Manager / Supervisor in a high-volume bar or venue

Strong leadership: confident running shifts and developing staff

Great operational discipline: stock, cash, compliance, checklists

Warm, guest-focused style with high standards

Comfortable working independently and communicating clearly with the owner

Able to travel and work between France and the UK (reliable, organised, flexible)

Essential Requirements

Right to work in France and/or the UK (or ability to obtain it)

Valid passport and ability to travel regularly

English fluent; French conversational (or willingness to improve) is a big plus

Availability for evenings/weekends during peak periods

Nice to Have

Cocktail knowledge / menu development

Experience in live music venues or events

Training/HR experience (onboarding, SOPs, staff handbooks)

Driving licence

Contract / Schedule (customise)

Split-location schedule (e.g. 2–4 weeks in France / 2–4 weeks in the UK)

Competitive pay depending on experience + potential performance bonus

Accommodation support may be available during France stints (if applicable)
