Onsite Software Developer/Engineer (Active TS//SCI)

These positions require an Active TS/SCI Security Clearance.

Job Overview: We are seeking a mid-senior Software Developer to join our dynamic team. This team member will work independently and as part of a cross-functional team comprised of technical experts supporting an established and growing Intelligence Community (IC) mission. You will need to quickly understand complex technical concepts, make assessments, and articulate your recommendations to the customer. Previous experience working on-site to support the Department of Defense (DoD) and the Intelligence Community (IC) is highly desirable.

This role requires expertise in distributed systems, data streaming, and backend development. Work will be based at Axiom's headquarters in Reston, VA, with periodic travel to support project milestone events.

Responsibilities:

Enable the development of system architectures, software systems, or software applications. Focus of work will primarily be front-end development.

Develop new software from algorithm definitions and prototypes.

Work with program teams to plan future operations.

Practice and improve on agile development methodologies and tools.

Work in a collaborative environment to support sensor system design and fielding, special communications, and C2.

Work with a multi-disciplinary team to compile complex products to inform leadership on technical risks and chances for success of projects.

Brief customer project, program and senior leadership, as well as mission partners on modeling efforts, results, conclusions and recommendations.

Integrate distributed data pipelines and streaming architectures to enhance system scalability and performance.

Ensure secure, resilient, and scalable software solutions to meet mission-critical requirements.

Work closely with cross ­functional teams, including data engineers and analysts, to refine system performance.

Maintain and improve system observability, including logging, tracing, and monitoring tools.

Qualifications:

Proficiency in C++, Python, and/or Java with experience in backend and distributed system development.

Experience with Digital Signal Processing, Image Processing, Matlab, AWS, RESTful APIs, RESTful Web Services, Orchestration and Containerization (e.g. Kubernetes, Docker).

Strong understanding of database systems (SQL and NoSQL) and query optimization.

Familiarity with workflow orchestration frameworks such as Temporal, Airflow, or Prefect.

Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack).

Understanding of high­ availability and fault-tolerant system design.

Ability to work collaboratively with engineers, SMEs, and operational teams in a mission­ focused environment.

Development using Agile development practices.

Experience working on-site at a customer location.

Software Developer:

Strong proficiency in C++ and the Qt framework for cross-platform desktop applications.

Experience with Golang for server-side data processing and API development.

Familiarity with OpenGL and GPU-accelerated visualization techniques.

Understanding of multi-threaded programming and performance optimization.

Experience integrating desktop applications with backend data sources.

Ability to work collaboratively with engineers, SMEs, and front-end developers.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $125,000.00 - $195,000.00 per year
