About the role

Who we are

With its A.I.-powered robotic technology platform, Symbotic is changing the way consumer goods move through the supply chain. Intelligent software orchestrates advanced robots in a high-density, end-to-end system – reinventing warehouse automation for increased efficiency, speed and flexibility.

What we need

We are hiring Senior Software Engineers to build and evolve business-critical systems at the core of the Symbotic platform. Our team owns the vertical lift systems that connect robots with input and output cells - directly impacting throughput, reliability, and operational efficiency. This role is for engineers who take initiative by default: identifying problems, driving improvements, and owning outcomes end-to-end.

What we do

We are the Platform Services team responsible for orchestrating vertical lift cells - a critical control point in how packages move between robots and input/output stations.

We build and operate the services that coordinate lift behavior in real time, ensuring efficient, predictable, and high-throughput movement through the system. This includes solving optimization problems around lift movement and flow, where small improvements materially impact overall system performance.

In addition to lift orchestration, we own a set of shared platform services used across teams to run and operate their systems. Our work sits at the intersection of distributed systems and physical automation, where correctness, performance, and the ability to reason about real-world behavior are essential.

What you’ll do

Design, build, and operate core services for vertical lift systems and shared platform components.

Own high-impact subsystems end-to-end from design through production.

Proactively identify issues and drive improvements without being asked.

Improve reliability, scalability, and throughput in production.

Build event-driven and real-time processing systems.

Apply algorithmic thinking to optimize flows, performance, and system behavior.

Debug and resolve complex cross-system issues.

Partner across robotics, controls, and infrastructure teams.

Contribute to system design and architecture.

Mentor engineers and raise engineering quality.

What you’ll need

Minimum of 8 years of software engineering experience.

Strong C# / .NET skills or ability to ramp quickly.

Strong system design, concurrency, and debugging skills.

Experience building production systems.

Experience with complex or distributed systems.

Experience with hardware-adjacent systems (robotics, automation, etc.).

Comfort working with algorithms or optimization problems (preferred, not required).

Proven ownership and ability to drive results.

Our environment

Up to 10% of travel may be required. Employees must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations.

The employee is responsible for owning a credit card and managing expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi-weekly basis.
