We’re thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for a Assistant Manager ICT (Cloud Engineer) to join our dynamic and supportive team. The Assistant Manager, ICT (Cloud Engineer) is responsible for designing, building and operating secure, scalable and reliable cloud infrastructure across JCU environments. The role carries out cloud engineering, automation and platform operations, to enable stable and efficient delivery of application services for teaching, research and administration.
Key Responsibilities
Designing, implementing, maintaining and enhancing cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure to ensure secure, reliable, and scalable environments
Designing, developing and administering cloud and network architecture, including WAF, reverse proxy, VPC design, subnets, routing, security groups and connectivity controls.
Operating and supporting container platforms such as Docker, Kubernetes, EKS and container registries, including deployment and scaling activities.
Supporting the onboarding, implementation and deployment of new cloud solutions where required.
Developing, maintaining and enhancing infrastructure-as-code using Terraform, reusable modules and templates.
Automating infrastructure provisioning, configuration and environment setup to improve operational efficiency.
Ensuring environments are reproducible, consistent and free from configuration drift across development, testing and production environments.
Integrating security controls, vulnerability management and compliance checks into infrastructure pipelines.
Configuring and supporting application integrations and middleware components as part of infrastructure delivery.
Building, maintaining and enhancing CI/CD pipelines, incorporating automated build, test and deployment processes.
Supporting application release cycles with minimal downtime through controlled and repeatable deployment methods.
Maintaining source code repositories and artefact storage with appropriate access controls.
Implementing and enhancing monitoring, logging and alerting tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus and Grafana to ensure full system visibility.
Defining service performance indicators and dashboards to monitor system performance and availability.
Performing incident analysis and root cause investigations, and improving workflows for monitoring, reporting and incident response.
Developing and maintaining scripts to automate operational and administrative tasks.
Monitoring utilisation and optimising cloud costs, including recommending rightsizing, architecture improvements and reserved capacity strategies.
Supporting budgeting and forecasting for cloud expenditure.
Requirements:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
At least 2 to 4 years in cloud engineering roles
Preferred to have AWS or Azure certification and Terraform certification
Excellent communication , collaboration, problem solving and adaptability skills would be highly desirable
