About the Role

We are seeking a Commercial Analyst to support linehaul network optimisation, fleet optimisation, and Delivery Partner cost management, based in Melbourne or Brisbane . This role plays a key part in driving commercial performance, improving efficiency, and maximising value to the P&L through strong financial insight, commercial analysis, and operational partnering.

Working closely with Operations, Fleet, Finance, Procurement, and Corporate Functions, you will deliver data-driven analysis that supports network optimisation, fleet performance, subcontractor cost management, cost governance, and improved financial discipline across the freight business.

Success in this role will require strong financial analysis, commercial judgement, and the ability to understand operational drivers and influence real business outcomes. Experience in professional services, including Big 4 or mid-tier accounting, advisory, consulting, commercial finance, operations, or a related commercial environment, will be highly regarded.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver commercial and financial analysis to improve linehaul network performance, fleet efficiency, utilisation, and P&L outcomes

Develop financial models to support pricing, forecasting, scenario planning, cost analysis, fleet optimisation, and network optimisation decisions

Analyse key cost drivers, including linehaul rates, fuel, fleet operating costs, repairs and maintenance, subcontractor costs, route performance, capacity utilisation, and supplier performance

Partner with Operations and Fleet to identify opportunities for route optimisation, improved network design, cost reduction, asset utilisation, and service improvement

Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance service, cost, governance, and commercial outcomes

Support subcontractor rate reviews, benchmarking, cost validation, and commercial governance processes

Provide insights to support procurement, supplier, fleet, and Delivery Partner strategy

Act as a finance partner to Corporate Functions within a federated operating model

Support budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking, and FTE monitoring for Corporate Functions

Ensure accurate reporting, governance, and transparency of financial and operational data

Produce reporting packs with clear insights on cost trends, performance, risks, and improvement opportunities across linehaul, fleet, Delivery Partners, and Corporate Functions

About You

You are a commercially minded analyst who enjoys turning complex financial and operational information into practical insights that influence real business decisions. You are confident partnering with finance, fleet, and operational stakeholders and thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

You may come from commercial finance, operations, professional services, advisory, consulting, or another commercially focused background. What matters most is your ability to understand business drivers, work with stakeholders, analyse data, and provide clear recommendations that improve performance.

You will bring:

Experience in commercial finance, operations, analytics, advisory, consulting, professional services, including Big 4 or mid-tier accounting, or a related commercial environment

Strong financial modelling, Excel, and data analysis skills

Ability to interpret complex financial and operational data and translate it into clear, actionable insights

Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills

Commercial judgement, curiosity, and the confidence to ask the right questions

Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis, performance reporting, or operational improvement

Experience with transport, logistics, supply chain, fleet, subcontractor costs, or supplier cost structures is beneficial but not essential

Deep operational knowledge, business experience, and established stakeholder relationships will be highly valued

Experience supporting organisational change, transformation, or continuous improvement is desirable
