About the role

PPG is a global manufacturer of paints, coatings, and specialty materials and a Fortune 200 company with headquarters in Pittsburgh and operations in nearly 70 countries around the world. We are currently seeking a National Account Manager - Retail & Independents to be accountable for driving profitable growth, execution quality, and customer partnership across designated national retail and independent customers in Australia and New Zealand.

This is a commercially focused role that balances strategic account leadership with hands-on execution discipline and will be based out of our Clayton site.

Responsibilities

Own Joint Business Plans for allocated Retail and Independent customers, including volume, mix, margin, ranging, and activation commitments

Partner with Brand Management and Channel Activation to identify ranging, category expansion, and innovation opportunities aligned to customer and PPG priorities

Provide accurate and timely inputs into the demand planning process, with disciplined integration of promotional activity

Act as the primary point of coordination between Sales, Marketing, Demand, Customer Service, and Logistics for allocated accounts

Live the PPG Architectural Coatings values in all interactions, with a clear focus on ethics, customer outcomes, safety, teamwork, and accountability

Support key customer events including expos, roadshows, and major in-store activations

Requirements

Proven experience in National Account Management or senior account roles within retail, hardware, coatings, or adjacent categories

Demonstrated ability to manage complex customer relationships and deliver outcomes through influence rather than authority

Strong commercial acumen, including understanding of margin, mix, trade investment, and profitability drivers

Data-literate, with the ability to analyse sales, inventory, and performance trends and convert insight into action

Strong planning, communication, and stakeholder management skills

Tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, Marketing, or a related discipline preferred
