Associate System Architect

The role

As part of our Engineering and Sustainment Services group, the Associate Systems Architect supports the System Architect and broader engineering team by contributing to updates to the Combat System Architecture.

Further, the successful candidate will:

Contribute to architectural activities through DCE, including defined work packages related to technology refresh and capability introduction.

Support assessment of Mission System changes against requirements and Combat System design under guidance from senior engineers.

Review technical documents and artefacts related to Combat System Architecture and interfaces impacted by DCE, identifying issues for escalation where required.

Work collaboratively with the SEIT, Specialties and Design Leads to support consistency with agreed architectural principles across the combat system.

Contributes to Mandated System Reviews (MSRs), Working Groups, and workshops as required.

Support the development and maintenance of Combat System baselines and associated engineering data.

Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office and a 9-day fortnight will be considered for this role.

About you

Your skills and experience will include:

Bachelor of Engineering in a relevant discipline (mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field etc.), and/or equivalent relevant experience (preferably within the defence industry)

Two plus years of systems engineering.

Systems engineering software tools and simulation environments (e.g. DOORS, Cameo Systems Modeler, etc.). Basic analytical and problem-solving skills.

Understanding of systems engineering principles and practices.

Basic familiarity with military systems or related defence technologies is desirable.

Familiarity of System Engineering in an ASDEFCON context is desirable.

Applicants must be Australian citizens and hold or be able to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance to NV1 level. Information including past and present nationality and citizenship may be requested to check eligibility for access to materials controlled under various export control regimes, including ITAR.
