About the role
You will lead a small, senior engineering team building the systems that power live, automated trading for retail and professional traders on Indian markets. This is a hands-on technical leadership role. You will spend meaningful time in the codebase, in design reviews, and in production incidents, not only in 1:1s and planning. We expect you to raise the technical bar while keeping the team shipping.
What you will do
- Own delivery, quality, and reliability for one or more domains (e.g. order execution, backtesting, market-data ingestion, broker integrations).
- Lead architecture and design reviews. Make and defend trade-offs around latency, correctness, and cost.
- Stay technical. Write code, review PRs, and debug hard production issues alongside the team.
- Run a tight engineering process: scoping, estimation, on-call, incident response, and post-mortems.
- Grow engineers through feedback, mentoring, and clear career conversations.
- Hire well. Drive sourcing, interviewing, and the technical bar for new engineers.
- Partner with product and the CTO on roadmap, sequencing, and technical strategy.
- Own compliance-critical changes with care, given the regulated nature of algorithmic trading on NSE.
What we look for
- 8+ years building production software, with 2+ years leading engineers as a manager or tech lead.
- Strong systems background. You understand concurrency, data structures, latency budgets, and failure modes, and can reason about them under load.
- Depth in at least one of: low-latency or high-throughput backends, time-series or market data systems, distributed systems, or financial/trading infrastructure.
- Comfort in our stack or the ability to ramp fast: TypeScript/Node.js, time-series stores (TimescaleDB, DuckDB), containerized deployments, and event-driven pipelines.
- A bias for correctness. You care about edge cases, idempotency, and data integrity because money is on the line.
- Track record of shipping under real constraints, not just designing systems on paper.
- Clear, direct communication and sound judgment on when to lead, when to delegate, and when to escalate.
Nice to have
- Experience with order management systems, exchange connectivity, or market microstructure.
- Familiarity with Indian capital markets and regulatory requirements (SEBI, NSE algorithmic trading).
- Background in observability and performance tuning at scale (tracing, profiling, p99 latency work).
- Prior experience in an early-stage or founder-led engineering environment.

Pay: Up to ₹1,800,000.00 per year
