The Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) Substance Use in Pregnancy and Parenting Service (SUPPS) is a specialist, coordinated, multidisciplinary service supporting women with substance use challenges from the antenatal period to six months post-birth, with extended support up to two years in exceptional cases. SUPPS aims to improve health and social outcomes for pregnant women and their families by providing care navigation, support, and facilitating engagement with necessary services.

What you’ll be doing

The Clinical Nurse/Midwife Consultant – Substance Use in Pregnancy and Parenting Service is responsible for delivering specialist drug and alcohol nursing and midwifery consultancy services across inpatient, outpatient, and community settings. This role also carries significant responsibilities for clinical leadership, education, and participation in research, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical services planning. Based in Wagga Wagga, the position provides outreach and telehealth consultations across the district, including consultation services to NSW residents within the Albury Wodonga Health catchment.

Candidates will be required to meet the following criteria:

Current authority to practice as a Registered Nurse/Midwife (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, AHPRA) with a minimum of five years full-time equivalent post-registration experience, including at least three years in the drug and alcohol specialty, and postgraduate qualifications relevant to the field

NSW Working with children clearance

Compliance with Vaccination category A

Current driver’s licence and willingness to travel as required
