The Role
In this role, you will lead a comprehensive accessibility assessment of a large SharePoint‑based intranet, evaluating its current state against contemporary accessibility standards and identifying barriers that impact usability, inclusivity and compliance. You will analyse site structure, content, navigation and interaction patterns, mapping issues against WCAG, AS EN 301 549, the Digital Experience Policy and relevant legislative obligations.
You will work closely with internal stakeholders to understand existing assets, assess integration considerations, and ensure your recommendations are practical, achievable and aligned with organisational constraints. Your work will include producing high‑quality assessment artefacts, documenting findings clearly, and advising on remediation pathways that support long‑term accessibility uplift.
Throughout the engagement, you will provide structured, evidence‑based guidance, maintain accurate documentation, and offer ad‑hoc support as required. This role requires strong analytical capability, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work onsite within a secure, collaborative environment.
About You
You are an experienced digital accessibility specialist with a strong understanding of accessibility standards, assessment methodologies and compliance frameworks. You bring a balanced mix of technical insight, analytical capability and clear communication, enabling you to assess complex digital environments and provide practical, evidence‑based recommendations that support inclusive design.
You will excel in this role if you bring:
Core Experience & Capability
Extensive experience conducting accessibility assessments for intranet, web or digital platforms.
Strong understanding of WCAG (latest version) and its application in enterprise environments.
Familiarity with AS EN 301 549, the Digital Experience Policy, and accessibility obligations under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992.
Demonstrated ability to identify accessibility barriers and translate findings into clear, actionable remediation guidance.
Experience assessing SharePoint‑based environments or similar content management platforms.
Ability to work onsite and collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders across technical and non‑technical teams.
Technical & Analytical Skills
Capability to evaluate navigation, structure, content, interaction patterns and user flows for accessibility impacts.
Experience using accessibility testing tools, manual testing techniques and assistive technology simulations.
Ability to assess integration considerations with existing digital assets, ensuring recommendations are feasible and aligned with organisational constraints.
Strong documentation skills, producing high‑quality reports, issue logs, compliance mappings and remediation recommendations.
A structured, methodical approach to assessment, ensuring accuracy, traceability and alignment with compliance requirements.
You must also be able to provide:
