We are seeking a highly skilled Hybrid IT Support Engineer to lead and support system upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure enhancements in a healthcare environment. This role ensures the reliability, security, and efficiency of critical IT systems, including Electronic Health Records (EHR), clinical applications, servers, and cloud environments. The ideal candidate will have expertise in healthcare IT infrastructure, regulatory compliance (JCI, HIQA), and IT service management best practices.

Job Purpose
The Hybrid IT Support Engineer is responsible for providing technical support across hospital and healthcare environments, ensuring the availability, security, and performance of clinical and non-clinical IT systems. The role involves supporting healthcare staff, maintaining end-user devices, troubleshooting infrastructure issues, and assisting with healthcare applications while adhering to data protection and patient confidentiality requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Support
Provide 1st and 2nd line IT support to hospital staff, clinicians, administrative teams, and external partners.
Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, network, printer, and application issues.
Manage incidents and service requests through the IT Service Management (ITSM) platform.
Escalate complex issues to specialist teams where appropriate.
Participate in on-call and out-of-hours support when required.
Clinical Systems Support
Support Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Patient Administration Systems (PAS).
Assist users with clinical applications, medical devices, and healthcare software.
Ensure minimal disruption to patient-facing services during system outages or maintenance.
Coordinate with clinical departments during system upgrades and deployments.
Infrastructure & Network Support
Support Windows desktop and server environments.
Troubleshoot LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, DNS, DHCP, and network connectivity issues.
Monitor system performance and proactively identify potential issues.
Support backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes.
Microsoft 365 & Cloud Services
Administer Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive.
Manage user accounts through Active Directory and Entra ID.
Support cloud-based applications and services.
Assist with endpoint management using Microsoft Intune.
Cybersecurity & Compliance
Adhere to healthcare information security policies and procedures.
Support endpoint security, antivirus, and vulnerability management initiatives.
Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and data protection requirements, including:
GDPR
JCI
Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) standards (Ireland)
Hospital cybersecurity policies
Maintain strict confidentiality regarding patient and staff information.
Device Deployment & Asset Management
Configure and deploy laptops, desktops, tablets, mobile devices, and clinical workstations.
Maintain accurate IT asset inventories.
Perform software installations, upgrades, and patch management.
Support device lifecycle management and hardware refresh projects.
Documentation & Continuous Improvement
Create and maintain technical documentation and knowledge base articles.
Document system changes and support procedures.
Contribute to IT projects, migrations, and service improvement initiatives.
Essential Qualifications
Degree, diploma, or equivalent experience in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related discipline.
Minimum 3 years' experience in IT Support, Service Desk, Desktop Support, or Infrastructure Support.
Full driving licence may be required for multi-site hospital support.
