As a Sr. Cost Specialist at QISG, you’ll play a critical role on our Project Controls team, driving cost visibility and financial performance across complex utility, power generation, and renewable energy EPC projects. You’ll own budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking, variance analysis, and executive reporting - helping project teams make informed decisions and successfully deliver large-scale infrastructure projects across North America.
What You'll Do:
Track, analyze, and control project costs for EPC energy and utility infrastructure projects, including transmission, substations, renewables, and utility construction work
Maintain and analyze budget vs. actuals, forecasts, and cost trends across multi-year projects
Develop and update Estimates at Completion (EAC) and Estimates to Complete (ETC)
Monitor cost deviations, trends, and risks, escalating potential issues early to project leadership
Support change management, including change orders, budget transfers, and cost impacts
Collaborate with Project Managers, Operations Directors, and technical teams to align financial performance with execution plans
Prepare clear, accurate cost reports, dashboards, and forecasts for internal leadership and external stakeholders
Support Project Controls Execution Plans and ensure adherence to company standards and procedures
Utilize systems such as JDE, EcoSys, Procore, Excel, and Power BI to support job cost tracking and reporting
Serve as a trusted cost resource for assigned projects, contributing to continuous improvement in cost control practices
What You'll Bring:
4+ years of project cost control or project controls experience within EPC, construction, utilities, or energy infrastructure environments
Strong hands-on expertise in cost forecasting, budget management, change management, and cost/risk trend analysis
Experience in project-based capital environments (not manufacturing or corporate accounting)
Advanced Excel skills; experience with JDE and/or EcoSys required, Procore preferred
Ability to translate complex cost data into clear, actionable insights for project leadership
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Willingness to travel up to 10% domestically
