About the program
AIR6500 is the RAAF’s $3 billion program to develop a joint air battle management system that builds on the capabilities offered by Next Generation sensor and command and control systems. AIR6500 will create a fully networked ‘system of systems’ that synchronises air and missile defence operations in joint and coalition environments, maximising situational awareness and enhancing the speed of decision making across the battlespace.
Your responsibilities will include:
We are seeking an experienced Cyber Operations Lead to head up a Cyber Operations team supporting sensitive and mission-critical ICT environments.
You will shape the strategy, policies, procedures, standards and operational practices required to protect complex ICT systems while leading the implementation of security monitoring, operational governance and continuous improvement initiatives.
You'll Have Experience in Some of the Following Areas
Cyber Operations, Cyber Security, ICT Security, Systems Administration or Infrastructure.
Implementing or managing security controls within enterprise ICT environments.
Security monitoring, incident response, vulnerability management or operational security activities.
Microsoft, Linux, networking, virtualisation or infrastructure technologies.
Developing or improving cyber security policies, standards and procedures.
Working with technical and business stakeholders to improve security outcomes.
Supporting regulated, sensitive or mission-critical ICT environments.
About you:
The successful candidate will be a well-rounded cyber security professional with deep technical experience across infrastructure, cyber operations and cyber engineering, combined with the ability to strengthen capability, influence stakeholders and drive security outcomes.
Highly Regarded
Experience within Defence, Government or other highly regulated sectors.
Exposure to classified or accredited ICT systems.
Knowledge of the Australian Government Information Security Manual (ISM).
Experience establishing or maturing cyber security capabilities, security operations or governance functions.
Relevant cyber security certifications.

In your first 12 months, you will:
Develop key cyber security policies, procedures and operational standards.
Implement meaningful security monitoring and reporting.
Improve visibility of vulnerabilities, risks and operational security issues.
Build strong relationships across technology and business teams.
Drive improvements that strengthen the organisation's overall cyber resilience.
Special Requirements:
Applicants must hold and maintain an NV2 Australian Defence Security Clearance and employment may be contingent on the provision of further personal information including citizenship to ensure compliance with international export control legislation and regulations.
