The Opportunity

This posting is for a temporary full-time position for 18 months

In school, you weren’t just good at math – you were an Iron Man-level mathlete! The thing you look forward to most about going out with friends for dinner is calculating how much everyone owes and how much to tip (of course, doing it all in your head). While everyone else is looking forward to spring, you’re celebrating tax season. Sound familiar? Then you might just be the person we’re looking for.

We’re looking for a top-notch accountant with a love of all things financial to join our finance team to support business leaders and stakeholders by providing actionable and reliable financial information and reports.

A Place to Belong

And with operations that span automotive, registries, travel, insurance and more, the opportunities to grow with us are almost limitless!

For us, curiosity fuels innovation. We value people who are eager to explore new ideas and who are comfortable putting emerging technologies into practice. We see experience with AI‑powered tools like ChatGPT, Copilot, and similar platforms as a real plus - especially when it’s used to work smarter, increase efficiency, and find better ways to get things done.

Building on a century of proud service in Alberta communities, we’re passionate about making a meaningful difference in the places where we live and work. And that all begins with our people. As part of the AMA team, you’ll enjoy:

Competitive salary and flexible benefits, with five packages to choose from and up to $3,000 in health and wellness spending accounts.

Employer-paid retirement savings program, including 5% AMA contribution and 5% matching.

Employee-exclusive discounts on travel, insurance, memberships, driver education, registry services, and more.

Free travel medical insurance for you and your immediate family.

Ongoing professional development, with unlimited learning opportunities, full Udemy access, and dedicated time for personal growth.

Paid vacation and personal days, including three weeks of vacation to start, a Me Day, a Volunteer Day, and the option to purchase additional vacation time.

Flexible work models that make sense for your lifestyle, including our four-day work week option: Alongside our other work models, this option gives you another way to harmonize work and life in a way that’s personally meaningful and aligned with your role. Available to eligible fully in-office and fully remote roles, with tailored guidelines to fit department-specific needs. Requires a 12-month commitment; eligible employees can opt in or opt out annually during the benefit renewal period.

Who You Are

You strongly believe there’s no such thing as an insignificant detail – you keep at it until every “i” is dotted and every “t” is crossed.

You’re hyper-organized – there’s no clutter in your workspace or in your brain.

You have the natural ability to reduce a complex concept or task into something that is manageable and clearly interpreted.

You have an inquisitive mind and love coming up with new ways to tackle a challenge and dig deeper to find the perfect solution.

Deadlines? No sweat. You’ve got mad time management skills, so you always deliver on time.

You think that important stories are buried in numbers and you want to be the one that finds them.

How You’ll Make an Impact

Reporting to the Manager, Finance, you’ll prepare accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and reports in a timely manner.

Analyze business operations, trends, costs and revenues to estimate future outcome.

Compile general ledger account analysis and reconciliations.

Verify, analyze and cross reference financial data, statements and reports as required.

Take initiative to identify and suggest improvements to job related processes, workflows and procedures.

Provide financial, business and tax advice.

Participate in development and detailed review of annual operating budgets.

Ensure that all processing and reporting deadlines are consistently achieved.

What You Bring to the Table

You have a post-secondary degree, certificate or diploma in accounting.

You have at 3-5 years of professional accounting experience under your belt with a progressive level of responsibility.

You have exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
