We are currently seeking an experienced Avionics Manager to join our dynamic and experienced Avionics team, in Brazil.

The Avionics Manager will lead engineering teams responsible for designing, building, testing, and certifying a variety of electronic systems such as air data, displays, communication, navigation and surveillance.

The position includes responsibility for developing and executing project and process plans, implementing policies and procedures, setting operational goals for the team, and acquiring financial and technical resources. This role includes mentoring, developing, and motivating direct reports.

Candidates applying for this position should be comfortable providing technical and project management for both Boeing employees and suppliers, as well as leading process improvement activities and utilizing cutting-edge methods for managing team workload and resources. The ability to develop and maintain positive and healthy relationships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and direct reports is a key attribute to being successful in this role.

Key responsibilities include:

Manage a team of Engineers in the development, validation, verification, integration and certification of Avionics Systems.

Be responsible for overall planning, execution, and success of complex projects.

Partner closely with suppliers to establish project plans and manage team execution.

Maintain resource and skill forecasts to meet project and daily operating requirements.

Continuously develop and improve the Avionics Function.

Develops and executes project and process plans, implements policies and procedures, and sets operational goals.

Coordinates engagement with BCA engineering counterparts located at USA sites: Charleston, Puget Sound, and Long Beach.

Acquires resources for projects and processes, including budget and staffing.

Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and direct reports.

Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products, and processes.

Provides oversight and approval of approaches to compliance with regulatory requirements and certification processes.

Leads and fosters process improvements.

Develops and maintains a culture of seeking to understand, courage to speak up, active listening and servant leadership to manage, develop, and motivate employees.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

Must have existing rights to work in Brazil

Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering

Must be registered or eligible to register with the Engineering and Agronomy Regional Council (Conselho Regional de Engenharia e Agronomia - CREA). Applicable to Brazilian, recent engineering graduates within 6 months and foreign engineers when the employer is willing visa sponsor.

Fluent in both written and verbal English

Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course “Exploring Leadership.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

Must have the ability to travel domestically or internationally

Experience in the development, integration, and verification of electro-electronic systems

System engineering experience (Requirements, V&V, interfaces management, lifecycle management etc.)

In depth aircraft certification experience (airworthiness requirements, ARP 4754 processes etc.)

Experience in system safety assessment/functional hazard assessment methodology

Experience with Model-Based Engineering (MBE) / Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methods

Master’s Degree in an engineering related field or Business Administration (MBA)

Experience with Agile project management methods
