We are currently seeking an experienced Flight Controls Engineering Manager to join our dynamic and experienced Flight Controls team, in Brazil.

The Flight Controls Engineering Manager requires strong technical knowledge of the Flight Controls system and leadership ability to manage critical work statement within the team.

The professional will be responsible for managing one or more sub-systems groups within BCA (Boeing Commercial Airplanes) Flight Controls Engineering organization, throughout the entire program’s life cycle phases including development, certification and sustaining phases related to 787, 737MAX, 777X, research and development and future programs, with emphasis on control laws, auto flight and flight controls electronics development.

Key responsibilities include:

Managing team priorities, work statement, resources and budget allocation

People procurement and development

Oversight of technical decision-making and engineering quality

Reporting and elevating status to senior management

Performance management and mentorship of an engineering team

Coordination with BCA flight control organization on Program Status reporting

Cross-functional coordination with other organizations such as Aircraft Level integration, Aircraft Programs, Systems Integration, Avionics, Crew Ops, Airplane Safety, Flight Sciences, System Stress, Production Engineering, Supply Chain.

This position is hybrid / Telecommuting. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

Must have existing rights to work in Brazil.

Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.

Must be registered or eligible to register with the Engineering and Agronomy Regional Council (Conselho Regional de Engenharia e Agronomia - CREA). Applicable to Brazilian, recent engineering graduates within 6 months and foreign engineers when the employer is willing visa sponsor.

Fluent in both written and verbal English

Must have experience in management or technical leadership role within aerospace industry.

Must have previous experience working with Flight Controls Systems Development

Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course “Exploring Leadership.”

Preferred Qualifications (Education/Experience):

In depth experience working with aircraft flight control laws or auto flight development

In depth experience working with aircraft systems electronics systems development

In depth experience working with aircraft systems architecture and requirements development.

In depth experience with aeronautical systems development following ARP4754 standard.

In depth experience with equipment qualification following RTCA DO-160 standard.

Experience working within a cross functional team environment.
