Senior Analyst - Tax & Compliance

What You'll Do:

The Senior Analyst, VCS plays a critical role in strengthening Avalara's U.S. Voluntary Compliance Services (VCS) operations. You will enhance the accuracy, scalability, and AI-enabled execution of these operations across multiple jurisdictions.

You will report to the Manager, Professional Services and you will be in Pune office.

What Your Responsibilities Will Be:

You lead the end-to-end preparation, processing, analysis, and quality assurance of historical Sales and Use tax data and returns for complex voluntary compliance engagements.

Be a primary senior liaison for customers, project managers, and state taxing authorities to manage sensitive negotiations, voluntary disclosure agreements (VDAs), and amnesty programs.

You manage complex reconciliations and variance analysis between client transactional data, prior filings, and proposed disclosure returns, maintaining a clear audit trail.

You Identify scalable AI-enabled workflow enhancements to improve data retrieval, standardize status reporting, and accelerate turnaround times for complex multi-state disclosures.

What You'll Need to be Successful:

Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Accounting, Taxation, Finance, or a related field; or an MBA in Finance.

3–4 or more years of experience, with a focus on voluntary disclosure, amnesty, or remediation programs.

Demonstrated experience managing multi-jurisdiction return portfolios and handling complex compliance escalations such as notices, penalty and interest issues, and nexus determinations.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (complex formulas, pivot tables, macros/VBA, handling large datasets) to manipulate historical transaction data for accurate reporting.

Experience applying AI tools to improve operational speed, quality, or scale in data analysis, documentation, or reporting workflows.

Accounting licensure, like CPA
