Linux Systems Engineer | High Performance Trading Infrastructure

About the opportunity

I'm representing a well-known financial technology firm that operates at the heart of global markets, providing liquidity across thousands of securities and hundreds of venues worldwide. They are looking for a Linux Systems Engineer to join a team responsible for the design, build, and support of high-performance servers that underpin a global trading platform.

This is a high-visibility role with direct exposure to senior leadership and real influence over long-term infrastructure strategy. What you'll do

Analyse, diagnose, and resolve Linux-based server issues across a globally distributed infrastructure

Create, test, deploy, and maintain packages, batch files, and scripts for the OS environment

Identify and implement optimisations to reduce latency and improve system efficiency

Manage configuration and change requests, coordinating with internal technology teams and vendors as needed

Contribute to long-term infrastructure strategy and capacity planning

What you'll bring

5+ years of Linux/Unix administration experience

Kernel tuning experience

Strong understanding of networking protocols and topology including NFS, DHCP, IP, TCP, UDP, TFTP, and NTP

Strong scripting ability in Bash, Python, or similar

Analytical mindset with a proactive, self-motivated approach

Ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities in a fast-paced production environment

Compensation

Base salary for this role ranges from $150,000 to $225,000 + any potential bonus.
