About the role
Main purpose of job: To support the Finance Department in the preparation, analysis, and reporting of financial information for monthly management accounts, Board reporting, and external stakeholders. The role involves ensuring the accuracy of financial data, maintaining strong financial controls, supporting statutory reporting requirements, and assisting with wider finance and business operations.
Main Duties are but not limited to;
Assist the Finance Department in preparing financial data for Board reporting and external stakeholders on a monthly basis.
Prepare and analyse monthly management accounts, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
Reconcile control accounts and balance sheet accounts, investigating and resolving any discrepancies.
Assist with Profit and Loss analysis and respond to related queries from management and other departments.
Reconcile intercompany balances and loan accounts across the group.
Prepare and submit various Office for National Statistics (ONS) reports.
Review company credit card transactions, ensuring compliance with company policies and financial controls.
Prepare monthly sales data reports for key customers.
Maintain and prepare monthly rebate registers for the group, including approving customer repayment invoices.
Assist with financial analysis, reporting, and responding to general finance-related queries.
Prepare and submit VAT returns in accordance with statutory requirements.
Provide support during external audit processes, including the preparation of supporting documentation and schedules.
Support the Accounts and Credit Control teams as required.
Collaborate with all departments across the business, providing financial support and information where necessary.
Undertake additional ad hoc finance and administrative duties as required.
Essential
Excellent attention to detail with the ability to maintain accuracy under pressure.
Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise workload effectively and meet deadlines.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks while following established processes.
Effective communication skills with the ability to build positive working relationships at all levels of the business.
Strong collaborative approach and willingness to support cross-functional teams.
Previous experience in the preparation of management accounts.
Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting systems.
Desirable
AAT qualification or equivalent accounting qualification.
Knowledge and experience of the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS).
Experience working within a multi-company or group accounting environment.
