Your role, your impact

As a Junior Software Engineer, you’ll support the Gaming Technology team in building, maintaining, and improving backend applications. Reporting to the Software Engineering Lead, you’ll work closely with experienced engineers in an agile environment, contributing to both day-to-day system stability and continuous improvement initiatives.

This is a varied, fast-moving role where curiosity, adaptability, and problem-solving are key to success - and where you’ll be exposed to modern technologies and practices that will accelerate your development as an engineer.

Build, test, and maintain backend applications using modern development practices

Troubleshoot production issues and resolve incidents across live systems

Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders in agile ceremonies and delivery cycles

Support and enhance APIs and backend services within production environments

Contribute to continuous improvement and system performance optimisation

Balance multiple tasks in a dynamic, support-focused engineering environment

As part of your growth, you’ll also gain exposure to modern engineering tooling and environments, including cloud platforms, containerisation, and frontend frameworks - helping you broaden your skillset over time.

What you'll need to succeed

You’re an early-career engineer who thrives on solving problems, learning quickly, and working across a variety of challenges. You bring a strong foundation in backend development and enjoy being hands-on in live environments. Most importantly, you have the right attitude: curious, resilient, and eager to develop your skills in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting.

Experience in JavaScript backend development using Node.js and TypeScript

Proven ability to build and support APIs and backend services

Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills in production environments

Ability to adapt to varied, interrupt-driven work and changing priorities

Exposure to Databases and writing SQL queries

A growth mindset with enthusiasm to learn, develop technical capability, and build domain knowledge in gaming

You’re keen to grow

AWS cloud services or cloud-native application development

Containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes (EKS)
