Key responsibilities
Design and develop internal tools for R&D users
Build user-friendly interfaces (web and desktop) for searching, entering, reviewing, visualizing, and managing complex technical data
Develop workflow-oriented applications that support project coordination, progress tracking, action management, approvals, and reporting
Improve usability and process clarity in areas where existing workflows are fragmented, manual, or error-prone
Implement frontend validation and workflow guidance that supports better data quality at the point of use
Contribute to architecture, coding standards, testing, and long-term maintainability of internal applications
Collaborate directly with users to understand needs, refine requirements, and deliver practical, incremental improvements
Evaluate and decide where AI/ML adds value in user workflows vs. deterministic approaches, and implement accordingly
What you bring
University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or a related field
Relevant professional experience in building production-grade systems (3-5 years for Middle, 5-8 years for Senior)
Strong experience in web application development and user-facing software engineering
Experience building internal business or engineering applications, dashboards, portals, or workflow tools
Solid understanding of frontend architecture, UI quality, API integration, and maintainable software design
Experience with modern web technologies (JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks and REST-based integration)
Good understanding of validation, error handling, and user workflow design
Ability to convert complex technical requirements into simple and intuitive user experiences
Strong communication skills in English and German, with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, researchers, and project stakeholders
Nice to have
Experience in engineering, scientific, industrial, or manufacturing software
Experience with authentication/authorization, role-based workflows, or traceability views
Familiarity with data-centric applications, dashboards, or workflow/process automation
Experience implementing AI/ML-supported features in real-world applications
