About the role
Position Summary
The Tax Manager for Northern Cluster SC Johnson is responsible for leading all tax-related activities for all the countries within the cluster, ensuring compliance with all tax regulations while optimizing the company’s tax position. This role partners closely with Finance, Legal, and Global Tax teams to support business operations, manage risk, and align with SC Johnson’s global tax strategy.
Key Responsibilities
1. Tax Compliance & Reporting
Ensure full compliance with all Northern countries tax regulations, including:
Corporate income tax (ISR)
Value-added tax (IVA)
Withholding taxes
Transfer pricing obligations
Oversee preparation and timely filing of all statutory tax returns.
Review tax provisions and ensure proper reporting for US GAAP and local statutory reporting purposes
Manage electronic accounting requirements (SAT reporting, CFDI compliance).
Manager electronic invoices regulations in each of the countries and work with external vendors to fulfill all local countries requirements.
2. Tax Planning & Strategy
Develop and implement tax strategies aligned with SC Johnson’s global tax framework.
Identify tax-saving opportunities while ensuring compliance with local regulations.
Analyze business transactions to determine tax implications and recommend optimal structures.
Support supply chain, distribution, and commercial strategies from a tax perspective.
3. Transfer Pricing
Ensure proper implementation of transfer pricing policies consistent with global guidelines.
Maintain documentation required under Mexican, Costa Rican, Colombian, Ecuadorians, and Peruvian transfer pricing rules.
Coordinate intercompany transactions and ensure arm’s-length compliance.
Support audits and reviews related to transfer pricing matters.
4. Audit
Act as the primary liaison with all Northern countries tax authorities (e.g SAT in Mexico).
Manage tax audits, inquiries, and disputes.
Prepare and defend tax positions with supporting documentation.
Monitor changes in tax legislation in all countries and assess impact on the company.
5. Internal Relationships
Advise internal stakeholders (Finance, Commercial, Supply Chain, HR) on tax implications of business decisions.
Support new product launches, promotions, and pricing strategies from a tax standpoint.
Partner with regional and global teams to ensure alignment with SC Johnson policies.
6. Risk Management
Ensure strong internal controls related to tax processes (SOX compliance).
Identify and mitigate tax risks proactively.
Implement best practices in tax governance and documentation.
7. Leadership & Team Development
Lead and develop the local tax team.
Manage external advisors and consultants in each of the Northern Cluster countries.
Promote continuous improvement in tax processes and systems.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Administration.
Experience
5+ years of experience in tax, preferably in a multinational company or tax firm.
Strong knowledge of Mexican tax laws and regulations.
Experience in FMCG or manufacturing industry preferred.
Proven experience handling audits and transferring pricing matters.
Technical Skills
Deep understanding of:
Mexican tax code and SAT requirements
Transfer pricing regulations
Tax accounting (deferred taxes, provisions)
Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred).
Advanced Excel and data analysis skills.
Soft Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
High level of integrity and compliance mindset.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, matrixed, multinational environment.
Fluent in Spanish and English.
