Join a pivotal leadership role shaping the future of specialist palliative care across South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD). As a Clinical Nurse Consultant Grade 3 (CNC3), you will drive clinical excellence, innovation, and evidence-based practice across hospital and community settings, supporting patients and families across the lifespan.

Provide expert clinical leadership and advanced practice in specialist palliative care across diverse populations (adult, aged, adolescent, young adult, paediatric, and neonatal).

Deliver strategic and operational advice to enhance service delivery and patient outcomes.

Champion evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and innovation within palliative care services.

Lead and support education, training, and professional development for nursing staff.

Provide high-level clinical supervision, mentorship, and support to palliative care nurses.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and key stakeholders across hospital and community settings

Contribute to research initiatives and continuous service improvement.

Navigate complex healthcare environments, supporting teams through change and evolving service demands

We are seeking a highly experienced and driven clinician who brings advanced expertise in palliative care and thrives in a dynamic, complex healthcare environment. The ideal candidate demonstrates exceptional leadership, communication, and change management capabilities.

Extensive clinical experience and advanced practice skills in specialist palliative care.

Proven ability to provide senior leadership and influence clinical practice at a district level.

Strong capability to manage competing priorities and expectations from abroad range of stakeholders.

Demonstrated success in leading and implementing practice change, including in resistant or evolving environments.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage, support, and inspire teams.

High-level critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Commitment to clinical excellence, continuous improvement, and patient centred care.

Experience in education, clinical supervision, and mentoring within nursing teams.

Ability to support staff in managing the challenges of a constantly changing healthcare landscape.

Selection Criteria

To help us assess your suitability for the role, please tell us as much as you can about yourself in response to the questions below.

Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

At least 7 years full time equivalent post registration experience and at least 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience in a relevant field of practice relevant to the specialty. Approved post graduate nursing qualifications in a field relevant to the specialty and such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the organisation.

Provide a comprehensive overview of your clinical experience in specialist palliative care, including the breadth of populations you have supported(e.g. adult, aged, paediatric, adolescent/young adult, neonatal) and examples of advanced clinical practice.

Demonstrate how you have contributed to advancing evidence-based practice through education, research, or quality improvement initiatives in palliative care. How did your contribution impact clinical practice or service delivery?

Do you have a current Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2)? if you hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
