Job Description - Java Developer (Data Scanning Platforms)

Role Overview

We are seeking a Java Developer with strong experience in enterprise data scanning and data protection platforms. The ideal candidate should have hands-on expertise in building and integrating solutions for structured and unstructured data discovery, with a solid understanding of scan classifiers, correlation sets, and data classification concepts.

This role will focus on designing, developing, and supporting Java-based integrations and backend services for platforms such as BigID, Microsoft Purview, or similar data governance and scanning products. The candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing data scanning solutions aligned with enterprise compliance and privacy requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Core Development Responsibilities

Develop and enhance Java / J2EE-based backend services and integrations for enterprise data scanning platforms

Design and implement solutions that support structured and unstructured data scanning across multiple data sources

Work with scan classifiers, policies, and correlation sets to improve data discovery and classification accuracy

Build integrations with platforms such as BigID, Microsoft Purview, or similar data governance and privacy tools

Develop and support internal log streaming agents and integration components that enable scalable scanning and metadata ingestion

Build and maintain data pipelines and integrations that connect enterprise data sources with classification and scanning platforms

Collaborate with product, security, and platform teams to translate business and compliance requirements into technical solutions

Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and technical design sessions

Troubleshoot and optimize application performance, scanning workflows, and platform integrations

Maintain high-quality engineering practices including testing, documentation, and secure development standards

Platform & Data Scanning Expertise

Strong understanding of data discovery, data classification, and privacy scanning concepts

Hands-on experience with scan classifiers, correlation sets, and policy-driven scanning frameworks

Understanding of tool-agnostic classification workflows and how they can be applied across different scanning and governance platforms

Experience working with structured data sources such as databases and data warehouses

Experience working with unstructured data sources such as file shares, collaboration platforms, and document repositories

Understanding of data governance, privacy, and regulatory requirements impacting enterprise scanning solutions

Required Technical Skills

Strong programming experience in Java, J2EE, Spring Boot, and REST API development

Experience working with Java / Python libraries to support scanning, data processing, and platform integrations

Experience integrating enterprise applications with data scanning and data governance platforms

Familiarity with cloud or containerized environments is preferred

Knowledge of secure coding, performance optimization, and enterprise application support

Preferred Skills

Experience with BigID, Microsoft Purview, or similar enterprise data discovery and classification platforms

Experience with data privacy, data governance, or compliance-driven scanning implementations

Experience designing or supporting classification workflows that are tool-agnostic and adaptable across products such as BigID, Microsoft Purview, or similar platforms

Familiarity with enterprise integration patterns, APIs, and distributed application design

Ability to work in Agile teams with a strong focus on engineering quality and delivery
