About the role
Job Summary
We are looking for a Senior Functional QA Engineer to work in a hands‑on individual contributor (IC) capacity within an agile delivery model. The role requires strong ownership of functional testing, the ability to independently analyze problems and derive solutions, and openness to leveraging modern tooling, automation, and AI‑assisted techniques to improve testing efficiency and quality outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Individual Contributor Role
Operate as a hands‑on QA engineer responsible for functional testing deliverables with no people‑management responsibilities.
Own assigned testing scope independently, from requirement analysis through release sign‑off.
Functional Testing Ownership
Design, document, and execute test scenarios and test cases based on business and technical requirements.
Ensure adequate functional, regression, and edge‑case coverage for assigned features.
Analytical Problem Solving
Analyze requirements, defects, and system behavior to identify root causes and validate fixes.
Proactively investigate ambiguous requirements or product gaps and propose testable solutions.
Agile Collaboration
Participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, daily stand‑ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
Collaborate closely with developers, product owners, and stakeholders to clarify acceptance criteria and quality risks.
Defect Management
Log defects with clear reproduction steps, evidence, severity, and impact.
Validate fixes and ensure proper closure across sprints and releases.
Continuous Improvement & Upskilling
Actively adopt new testing approaches, tools, and techniques based on product evolution.
Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to upskill and reskill as the QA landscape evolves.
Required Skills & Experience
Experience
5+ years of experience in functional software testing in web or enterprise applications.
Proven experience working as an independent QA contributor in agile teams.
Functional Testing Expertise
Strong hands‑on experience with black‑box and regression testing.
Ability to translate requirements into clear, testable scenarios.
Problem‑Solving Orientation
Demonstrated ability to figure out solutions independently when faced with incomplete or evolving requirements.
Comfortable operating with minimal supervision.
Automation Awareness (Good to have strong Plus)
Working knowledge or hands‑on experience with test automation concepts.
Experience with Playwright and TypeScript is a significant advantage.
AI / LLM Usage (Strong Plus)
Experience using LLMs or AI‑based tools to speed up daily QA tasks such as:
Test case generation
Test data creation
Exploratory testing support
Documentation or analysis
Exposure to or interest in Agentic AI–based testing approaches is a plus.
Communication
Clear written and verbal communication skills for collaborating across QA, engineering, and product teams.
Preferred (Good to Have)
Exposure to testing AI‑enabled or intelligent systems, including chatbot or workflow‑automation solutions.
Experience applying AI‑assisted tools to improve test efficiency or coverage.
Prior involvement in evolving QA practices beyond pure manual testing.
