Job Description
We are seeking a Mass Spectrometry Scientist (LC-MS/MS – Peptides/Proteomics) to support advanced peptide characterization and modification analysis using high-resolution mass spectrometry. This role is highly technical and focused on method development, workflow optimization, and complex data interpretation to support molecular characterization efforts.
The ideal candidate will bring strong experience with peptide mapping and MS/MS fragmentation techniques in a laboratory environment.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, optimize, and execute accurate-mass LC-MS/MS workflows for peptide identification, sequence confirmation, and modification analysis
Apply high-resolution MS and MS/MS fragmentation techniques (CID, HCD, ETD) for confident identification and site localization of peptide modifications and isomers
Optimize sample preparation and enzymatic digestion workflows to enhance detection of low-abundance species
Analyze and interpret complex proteomic and peptide datasets using industry-standard software
Advance and refine LC-MS/MS methods to support broader structural and molecular characterization initiatives
Document experimental procedures, results, and interpretations following best practices
Communicate findings clearly to cross-functional scientific teams
Qualifications
Required
Hands-on experience with LC-MS/MS for peptide/proteomic analysis, including fragmentation techniques (CID, HCD, ETD)
Strong problem-solving skills with ability to work independently and collaboratively
Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field:
BS: 5–8 years
MS: 3–6 years
PhD: 0–2 years
(or equivalent experience)
Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
Preferred
Experience with LC-MS/MS method development and optimization
Familiarity with proteomics/data analysis software (e.g., Mascot, Proteome Discoverer, Byonic, etc.)
Experience in a GMP or regulated environment
Knowledge of LIMS or data management systems
Additional Information
The position is Full Time, Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm, with overtime as needed. Candidates living within a commutable distance of Andover, MA, are encouraged to apply.
