Role Overview

The Commissioning Engineer will coordinate and execute commissioning activities for Nscale's hyperscale data centre projects across Europe. You will be responsible for driving all aspects of system testing, verification, and handover, ensuring that facilities meet performance, safety, and operational readiness standards.

This owner-side engineering role requires strong technical knowledge across mechanical, electrical, and controls systems, and the ability to work with multiple stakeholders throughout the commissioning process. Working closely with our Commissioning Agent/Technical Services Partner, Project Managers, MEP teams, and contractors, you will ensure integrated testing and documentation is completed to the highest standards before project completion.

Key Responsibilities

Support and execute phases of commissioning, delivering hands-on support through execution, testing, and handover.

Contribute to the development and management of project-specific commissioning plans, schedules, and test procedures.

Coordinate commissioning activities across all disciplines—mechanical, electrical, controls, and life-safety systems.

Oversee and perform testing, verification, and documentation of system performance, including FAT, SAT, and IST stages.

Review and validate commissioning reports, punch lists, and closeout documentation.

Collaborate with contractors, consultants, and operations teams to ensure readiness for energisation and integration testing.

Manage the technical interface between construction, QA/QC, and operations during the transition to steady-state operations.

Identify and resolve technical issues impacting system functionality, reliability, or safety.

Support lessons-learned reviews and the continuous improvement of Nscale's commissioning standards and procedures.

Qualifications

Experience: Strong experience in commissioning and MEP engineering, with dedicated experience working on data centres, mission-critical, or large infrastructure projects.

Education: Degree or alternative qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent discipline).

Technical Expertise: Proven experience handling the integrated commissioning of critical power and cooling systems.

Process Knowledge: Solid understanding of commissioning processes, documentation, and regulatory compliance.

Testing Standards: Practical experience with FAT, SAT, and IST testing for data centre systems.

Core Skills: Excellent coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Adaptability: Ability to work collaboratively across engineering disciplines in high-pressure, fast-paced environments.

Languages: Fluent in English; additional APAC languages are advantageous.
