The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Senior Cloud & Security Operations Engineer to play a key role in shaping and securing our next-generation cloud environment as we transition from on-premises to Azure and SaaS platforms.

This is a genuinely hands-on senior engineering role - you’ll be in the portal and the pipeline, designing, building, automating and operating secure cloud infrastructure across Azure and Microsoft 365. You’ll work closely with development teams and business stakeholders to deliver resilient, high-performing and secure technology services.

You’ll own both the big picture and the day-to-day: shaping architecture and standards, while rolling up your sleeves to deliver and run it. If you enjoy building and operating real systems -not just advising then this role will feel like a strong fit.

What you’ll focus on

Cloud security & architecture – designing secure Azure environments, network structures and SaaS integrations

Identity & collaboration security – strengthening Microsoft 365, identity access (Entra ID) and data protection controls

Monitoring & security operations – driving threat detection, incident response, automation and observability

Data protection & encryption – managing encryption, key/certificate lifecycles and secure data handling

Operational uplift – provide L3 support, lead the day-to-day operational running of the environment, set standards and shape the cloud and security roadmap

What you’ll bring

Strong hands-on experience designing, building and operating secure Azure enterprise environments

Deep knowledge across cloud security, networking and identity management, with solid networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, VLANs)

Experience working with Microsoft 365 security tools and policies

Hands-on experience with monitoring, incident response and automation

Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, business-focused outcomes

Practical skills in monitoring, incident response, scripting and infrastructure-as-code (PowerShell/Python, Bicep)

Exposure to hybrid and on-premises infrastructure - Windows Server, virtualisation, networking and firewalls

You’re someone who can operate both strategically and hands-on comfortable mentoring others, shaping standards and driving continuous improvement across the environment.

Experience & qualifications

Extensive experience across cloud infrastructure, security operations and enterprise environments (7+ years)

Microsoft certifications across Azure and/or Microsoft 365 (highly regarded)

Strong scripting and automation capability (e.g. PowerShell, Python, IaC tools)

Solid networking fundamentals and experience with enterprise security platforms

Security certifications (e.g. CISSP) advantageous
