What you will do::
Role Purpose
This role stabilizes HR operations coverage for QXO's growing Canada operations. You will serve as the primary generalist resource supporting background screening, leave administration, payroll coordination, and benefits administration. You will handle HR transactions and process support across the employee lifecycle, working closely with the Shared Services Director, HRBPs, recruiting teams, and cross-functional stakeholders. As QXO continues to integrate significant acquisitions and its Canadian footprint, this role directly enables operational excellence and compliance in one of our key growth markets.
Key Responsibilities
Manage shared services support for employees and managers, fielding inquiries related to HR policies, benefits, payroll, leave, and general HR administration
Coordinate and support background screening processes, including vendor coordination, candidate communication, and documentation management
Administer leave requests and compliance workflows, including vacation, sick leave, parental leave, and other statutory leave types under Quebec and federal regulations
Provide administrative support for benefits processes, including enrollment, changes, claims routing, and employee communication
Coordinate with payroll operations on employee data maintenance, time submission, benefits deductions, and related transactional support
Execute HR transactions and maintain data accuracy in HRIS systems, including new hire setup, terminations, demographic updates, and compliance documentation
Provide light recruiting support and coordination with talent acquisition team, including candidate scheduling, offer communication, and onboarding logistics
Support HRBPs on generalist matters, including employee relations follow-up, data gathering, and administrative research
Ensure compliance with federal and Quebec HR laws, union agreements, and company policies
Participate in process improvement and HR systems optimization initiatives as directed by the Director of HR Shared Services
What you will bring::
Required Qualifications
3+ years of HR operations, shared services, or generalist experience
Proficiency in English and French (both written and spoken; fluency at business level required)
Strong knowledge of Quebec employment law, federal employment standards, and Canada HR compliance requirements
Demonstrated proficiency with HRIS systems and HR technology platforms
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to manage multiple constituencies and competing priorities
Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion with sensitive HR information
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a multi-site or multi-entity HR environment
Familiarity with Oracle HCM, UKG (UltimateSoftware), or Salesforce HR systems
Background in payroll coordination or benefits administration
Experience supporting HR compliance and onboarding processes
Prior experience in a shared services center or consolidated HR operations model
PHR, CHRP, or similar HR certification
